Millwall boss Alex Neil has confirmed that Mathis Servais has had an injury setback and the player has now sent a message to fans.
The 21-year-old made his long-awaited debut for the Lions in the 2-2 draw with West Ham on the eve of the international break.
The versatile midfielder joined the South Bermondsey team from Mechelen for a fee in the region of £3 million but had to wait until September 19 to make his debut, coming off the bench in the final moments.
And he is now destined for further time off with the Millwall boss stating he picked up an ailment over the past week.
He missed the opening weeks of the campaign via a hamstring ailment but it is not yet clear how long he would be out with this new concern.
Whatever the reason it is a setback for the Lions to be without the Belgian once more as their injury woes continue to rise.
Millwall fans sent message by Mathis Servais after latest blow

Servais wrote on his Instagram page that he is disappointed to be out of the team again with another injury issue.
Looking to get his career with the Championship club up and going, he has vowed to Millwall fans that he will come back from this problem a stronger man.
“I am very disappointed by this new setback but I will work harder than ever to come back stronger and at my best level,” Servais said.
Servais joined Millwall last summer from KV Mechelen in a reported £3million deal.

He helped Mechelen reach sixth in the table, which secured him a move to the second division of English football.
Neil will be hoping this injury problem is not too significant and he can return to the team swiftly to give the club a boost in their promotion campaign.
Millwall’s injury crisis is quite desperate

The Lions had been 2-0 up against the Hammers, but second-half strikes from Mohamadou Kanté and Konstantinos Mavropanos secured the away side a point at the Den.
There are still a number of absentees expected for the journey to Deepdale to play Preston North End this weekend, with the likes of Lukas Jensen, Josh Coburn, Mihailo Ivanovic and Romain Esse still due to be sidelined coming out of the international break.
Mathis Servais’ Millwall career fails to take off
Servais’s life at Millwall didn’t get off to the start he would’ve desired, missing the first seven league games of the season.
His debut against West Ham was a good start and the international break has come at the perfect time to get some time training with the first team squad.”
But now this injury is another blow and if he is out for any period of time then it will be a huge concern for him and the club.
His career at The Den is stuttering along and if fitness difficulties continue then Millwall could be left with a deal they genuinely regret.
