Blackburn Rovers F.C. are facing a fresh setback in the pursuit of Daniel Jebbison.

After Michael O’Neill did an admirable job keeping Blackburn in the Championship, the club has turned to former manager Tony Mowbray to head them in the 2026/27 season.

The experienced ex-Sunderland manager needs no introduction to EFL supporters, having done several outstanding jobs over the years, including his previous stint at Ewood Park.

As a result, Mowbray’s selection makes sense, and he will be regarded as a safe set of hands as Rovers attempt to move forward. However, there is no disputing that Blackburn requires a profitable window, given the squad is depleted in important areas.

An update was supplied on Blackburn’s pursuit of Bournemouth’s Daniel Jebbison.

In an ideal scenario, Mowbray would sign as many fresh players as possible as soon as possible, giving him the opportunity to work with the team during preseason.

Of course, we all know that doesn’t always happen, but Blackburn were hoped to complete the loan move for Daniel Jebbison from Bournemouth as soon as possible.

However, in a new update, Alan Nixon said that the Cherries are postponing the move since they have not to sign off, despite the fact that a contract has been reached.

He describes how Bournemouth warned Rovers they would not sanction the loan until a replacement arrived, and how the delay means there is’still a prospect of late competitor bidders’ arriving to the table.

It’s also been reported that Jebbison had previously ‘encouraged’ interest from Blackburn, so there’s no indication that he’s looking to join another club, but the Championship side will be concerned until the transfer is completed.

Daniel Jebbison may flourish under Tony Mowbray at Blackburn.

This is a big summer for Blackburn because they don’t want to fight relegation again next season, but until they improve the squad, it’s difficult to envision anything other than a scrap for survival.

If they could bring in Jebbison, it would be a solid start for the window because he would provide physicality to the attack and has Championship experience.

He spent last season at Preston, and while six goals in 38 appearances isn’t very outstanding, it doesn’t tell the entire picture, as Jebbison brings other strengths to the game.

Nonetheless, that’s a number he’ll want to improve, and working with Mowbray could be exactly what he needs at this point in his career.

The 62-year-old has a reputation as a player-development coach, with Harvey Elliott and Amad Diallo among those who have previously played for Mowbray.

That is not to imply Jebbison is anywhere near that level, but he possesses a number of qualities that might propel him far, and Mowbray may know how to bring out the best in him, and at 22, he still has a lot of time to improve.

From the outside, it appears to be a move that benefits all sides, and it would undoubtedly be a blow for Blackburn if they are unable to complete it now, so it will be interesting to see how this unfolds.
