Millwall midfielder Barry Bannan has been linked with a return to Sheffield Wednesday just six months after leaving the club where he spent more than a decade of his career.
Bannan needs no introduction to Wednesday fans, having established himself as a modern-day icon at the club during his decade at Hillsborough.
During his time in Pittsburgh, Bannan made 477 appearances in all competitions, putting him on track to reach the 500-appearance mark in only one more season.
Now that the Owls have been owned by a group led by American billionaire David Storch and have money to spend, it’s no surprise that the 36-year-old is expected to return this summer.
But how much will Bannan’s signing set Wednesday back? Football League World chose to investigate the midfielder’s estimated transfer value amid speculation of a return to S6.
Barry Bannan’s expected transfer worth amid Sheffield Wednesday ties

Given his status at the club and his sad January leave, Bannan’s likely return to Sheffield Wednesday is one of the least surprising transfer rumours to come from the EFL.
The Owls veteran wanted to leave the club in the winter due to continued financial difficulties under former owner Dejphon Chansiri, which had left the team facing relegation.
While Wednesday were finally relegated after he left, Storch’s purchase has given the Yorkshire club fresh life, and the iconic midfielder could return to wear the blue and white stripes.
With Bannan under contract at Millwall for another 12 months, Wednesday would have to pay a fee to bring him back, but how much?
Transfermarkt estimates his market value at roughly €200,000 (£172,600), though Millwall’s asking price may vary dramatically.
The amount Millwall paid for Bannan in January was never released, making it difficult to predict how much the Lions might ask, though they are apparently willing to sanction a deal.
If Sheffield Wednesday set the correct price, the Bannan deal will most likely be straightforward to complete.

Fortunately for Sheffield Wednesday, convincing Bannan to return to the Steel City will not be difficult, as long as they are willing to meet Millwall’s asking price.
The Scot is reportedly’very receptive’ to the move, with both clubs eager to finalise a deal.
Bannan not only brings sheer quality to the pitch, especially in League One, but his return would also be a great morale boost for players, staff, and supporters ahead of what is already shaping up to be an exciting season.
Of course, the Owls will not want to spend too much for someone in the twilight of his career, regardless of his legendary status, but if a deal can be reached at a reasonable price, it is a no-brainer.
