Burnley and Middlesbrough are among the clubs looking to improve their attacking options ahead of the 2026/27 Championship season.
The Clarets were demoted from the Premier League alongside Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United, while Borough lost to Hull City in the Championship play-off final.
Burnley are hoping for an immediate return to the top division, but Kim Hellberg’s side had automatic promotion until the final day of the regular season and will now look to finish in the top two next season.
After missing out on immediate promotion, Middlesbrough fell to Southampton in the Championship play-off semi-finals, but were given a spot in the final after the Saints were booted out for spying on one of the North East club’s training sessions.
Burnley and Middlesbrough have joined the increasing trade competition for Scotland striker.

Burnley will be even more eager to enhance their striker options if Zian Flemming left Turf Moor this summer, having demonstrated his ability in the Premier League.
The 27-year-old scored 11 goals in 29 top-flight appearances, an impressive performance for a team that was relegated back to the Championship.
Meanwhile, according to Ben Jacobs of X, Millwall and Leicester City have approached Lyndon Dykes, who has received an offer to stay at Charlton Athletic.
Dykes scored three goals and assisted three times for the Addicks after signing a short-term contract with the South London club in January following his departure from Birmingham.
According to TEAMtalk, Burnley, Middlesbrough, Bristol City, and Cardiff City have joined Millwall and Leicester in the race to sign the 30-year-old.
Bristol City’s attackers were extremely goal-shy in the 2025/26 season, with out-and-out striker Emil Riis Jakobsen scoring just nine in 44 Championship games.
Meanwhile, Cardiff need all of the depth and skill they can get after being promoted back to the second division alongside Lincoln City and Bolton Wanderers.
Lyndon Dykes must consider game time before making decisions about the future.

Dykes has been named to Scotland’s World Cup squad, and his focus will be solely on helping Steve Clarke’s side have a good summer for the time being.
Scotland will face Haiti, Morocco, and Brazil in their group stage games next month.
Meanwhile, once his national team’s summer is finished, Dykes will consider whether to stay at Charlton or join one of their Championship rivals.
Millwall, Middlesbrough, and Burnley, all of whom have expressed interest in the 30-year-old, will be hoping to compete at the top of the Championship table.
Bristol City will look to reestablish their play-off credentials, whereas Cardiff and Charlton will focus on survival.
Dykes, who turns 31 in October, should think about his playing time with so many Championship teams interested in him.
His ability to lead the line and hold up play makes him an appealing choice for many clubs, but he does not have a spectacular goalscoring record, which may not auger well for certain promotion-chasing teams.
Dykes has not reached double figures since scoring 12 goals for Queens Park Rangers in the 2020/21 season, which was contested behind closed doors.
