Following the Sheffield Wednesday takeover, shocking news has emerged regarding Dejphon Chansiri.

Sheffield Wednesday’s ownership dilemma has been ended, with the club stating on Saturday that the consortium led by David Storch and Arise Capital Partners had completed its takeover.

The Owls went into administration in late October and were initially penalized with a 12-point punishment, which was later raised to 18 points owing to financial misconduct by former owner Dejphon Chansiri.

Chansiri, who bought the club in 2014, saw his reign marked by financial instability and controversy, leaving the team in dire straits before its final collapse into administration.

After months of uncertainty, supporters finally received good news ahead of the match against West Brom, as the takeover was formally finalized. The deal provides much-needed stability and assures that Wednesday will not start the next season with a greater points deficit, allowing for a League One reconstruction.

Late Attempts to Block the Takeover

However, rumors have surfaced indicating that Chansiri attempted to delay or sabotage the deal even in its closing stages. According to journalist Alan Nixon, the former owner advocated for the process to be redone entirely, alleging that another interested party was willing to pay a higher sum for the club.

Despite this, administrators were unable to restart negotiations due to the club’s perilous financial state, with Wednesday nearing the end of operational stability. Chansiri is reportedly said to have declined to donate further funds during the process.

According to the report, he declined to agree to a settlement, despite continuous conversations about creditor arrangements. According to reports, the agreement no longer includes a suggested repayment mechanism of 25p per pound.

Relief for supporters.

Further issues with debts secured against Hillsborough Stadium have been resolved, with additional financial arrangements still being considered.

For fans, however, the important consequence is clear: the takeover was completed despite late opposition, bringing an end to years of uncertainty and paving the way for a fresh start under new management.

Many fans will be happy that Chansiri’s attempts did not derail the process, as the club prepares for a new era.
