Club Brugge has terminated their pursuit of Sheffield United’s Andre Brooks with only a few days left in the January transfer window.
According to Sacha Tavolieri, the Belgian club will not pursue a deal to sign the midfielder because it is too complicated at this point in the market.
The Champions League club was linked with Brooks earlier this week, with the club eyeing him as a way to add depth to Ivan Leko’s first-team roster.
The 22-year-old has been a steady feature in Chris Wilder’s side this season, as the Blades strive for another top-six finish in the Championship.
Brooks has made 24 appearances, including 15 starts, and has two goals and two assists.
Andre Brooks transfer latest

According to reports, Club Brugge has pulled out of the running to recruit Brooks from Sheffield United in January.
With only a few days left in the transfer window, it is believed that completing a deal for the midfielder has become too complicated.
The Belgian club qualified for the European Cup play-off round in midweek, making them an appealing alternative for the 22-year-old.
He will, however, have to continue fighting for his spot at Bramall Lane under Wilder, since the team is now 17th in the Championship table.
Brooks progressed through the Yorkshire club’s academy system and has made 67 league appearances, including 20 in the Premier League.
A move to Club Brugge would have given the Englishman the opportunity to compete in the Champions League, since Leko’s team finished 19th in the league phase table.
Brooks was previously believed to be a secondary choice for Club Brugge, so it’s unknown whether he’d have been interested in the transfer.
Sheffield United’s next game is against Millwall on Saturday, with a 3pm kickoff.

Andre Brooks can be an important element of Sheffield United’s promotion ambitions.
Brooks has established himself throughout the years as an important part of Wilder’s plans, even if he is not a definite starter.
With Ollie Arblaster and Sydie Peck both out injured this year, Brooks has received more playing time than he has in any prior season, which he may struggle with in Belgium.
Sheffield United would have had a lot of work to do to find a competent replacement for Brooks with the limited time remaining in the transfer window.
So it is encouraging that Club Brugge has ceased its chase, even if the opportunity to compete in the Champions League may not come again for Brooks.
