Marcus Rashford has impressed since joining Barcelona.
Marcus Rashford is apparently facing a major stumbling block in securing a permanent move to Barcelona.
Rashford, 28, left Manchester United in the summer transfer window to join Spanish La Liga giants Barcelona after slipping behind Ruben Amorim’s pecking order at Old Trafford.
Rashford has impressed since going to Spain, scoring six goals and providing seven assists in 14 matches across all competitions.
On Sunday, the 28-year-old scored Barcelona’s third goal in a 3-1 La Liga win over Elche. Lamine Yamal and Ferran Torres scored the last two goals, while Rafa Mir scored for the visitors.
Rashford’s impressive form has led to speculation that Barcelona is considering making his loan contract permanent.
Hansi Flick, Barcelona’s manager, is claimed to be impressed with the Englishman’s versatility and goal-scoring ability, with the club seeing Rashford as the long-term solution to the team’s left-sided attack.
However, there is reportedly a significant stumbling point that could jeopardize the relocation.
According to Caught Offside, Rashford’s earnings, which he agreed to while signing a new contract with United in 2023, may pose an issue for Barcelona because the amount’significantly exceeds Barcelona’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations’.

According to the report, the Catalan giants are looking to offer Rashford a long-term contract with a lower base wage but performance-based bonuses and image rights incentives included.
It has been reported that if Rashford agrees to drop his pay expectations, a deal with United may be completed as early as the winter transfer window.
Aside from Barcelona, who are thought to be in prime position to sign Rashford, other clubs are keeping an eye on the situation.
Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Inter Milan, Chelsea, and Arsenal are all thought to be interested in the winger.
Rashford and Barcelona will return to UEFA Champions League play this week, facing Belgian side Club Brugge at the Jan Breydel Stadium on Wednesday night.
