I enjoy Liverpool and Manchester United, but I’d rather join. – Ollie Watkins has already declared his “dream” summer transfer, citing strong ties to both Man United and Liverpool.
Ollie Watkins, an England striker, has made it clear that he does not intend to leave Aston Villa during the summer transfer window, despite rumours that he is interested in joining Manchester United.
According to a talkSPORT report from last week, United was ‘considering’ making a bold move to sign the Three Lions international.
This season, he has had an incredible campaign, tallying 13 assists and 27 goals across all competitions.
He finished the season with 32 direct goal contributions in the Premier League alone, having scored 19 of his 27 goals there. He had more assists than any other player.
Watkins appears to be ruling out the possibility of moving to another club after playing a key part in helping Villa qualify for the Champions League the following season. Watkins wants to play in Europe’s top club competition for the first time.
According to Watkins, who was cited by the Mirror, “it was disappointing to end such a great season on such a low note at Crystal Palace.”
“However, we have been outstanding and incredibly consistent throughout the season, and we finished where we rightfully should—with Villa Park hosting Champions League games.
“Next year will be quite memorable. Both individually and collectively, what transpired at Palace was subpar, but this doesn’t sum up our season. We’ve had an excellent year.
“In terms of myself, I’ve been reliable. Not much more can be done by me. Reaching 20 goals was the goal, but there’s always next season.
Has something significant changed? Indeed. But given all the effort I’ve put in, I wasn’t shocked by how well I performed. I have no doubt that the upcoming season will be even better.
Watkins believes that the Premier League’s elite teams will be more formidable the next season and is expected to be a member of the England team travelling to Germany for the European Championship.
“A lot of teams are competing,” he continued. Some claim Chelsea has had a difficult year, but I don’t believe that to be the case. They will have increased power.
“Crystal Palace’s new manager is firing them. Up there is Tottenham. We need to prepare for the challenging season that lies ahead.
