Due to the fact that Bukayo Saka’s Panenka penalty attempt against Real Madrid was unsuccessful, Arsenal has ONE major problem.
After Arsenal’s amazing 3-0 triumph in the first-leg match at the Emirates Stadium the previous week, Saka had a wonderful opportunity to extend Arsenal’s lead by three goals.
Francois Letexier, the match referee, indicated the spot after a video assistant referee (VAR) review was performed during the early stages of Wednesday’s match.
Over at the Bernabeu, Martin Odegaard managed to keep possession of the ball before transferring it to Saka, who was unable to score the first goal of the match.
He made a try at a Panenka, but Real Madrid custodian Thibaut Courtois was able to save it by diving to his right.
As soon as Saka fluffed his lines from the spot, Arsenal supporters took to social media to express their disapproval, and they all made the same point.
They were dissatisfied with Saka because she did not strike the Panenka that was in the midst.
At least with the Panenka, one user of X said, “Lmao Saka, you’re right down the middle right now.”
It was then that a second person said, “Bro, a panenka is supposed to go down the middle.”
A further participant commented: “Saka that was really really bad at least put it in the middle.”
According to the opinion of a fourth person, “Did Saka intend to hit that in the middle of the goal?” This is without a doubt one of the most severe punishments I’ve ever witnessed; I can’t even begin to fathom what he was thinking.
“My theory is that Saka got caught in the middle of two minds there,” another person said. As opposed to dinking to the side, people dink down the middle.
According to Ally McCoist, who was providing commentary for TNT Sports, “I can’t believe it. Without a doubt, the custodian is great. This is not a very good pen. He provides the custodian with the option to lift a left hand, and according to him, the left hand is powerful.
After a few moments, Real earned their own penalty, and then a long review by the video assistant referee reversed Letexier’s judgement.
