Fans think Unai Emery made major mistake against PSG but they’re quickly proven wrong

The supporters believe that Unai Emery made a significant error before to the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinal match between Aston Villa and another team, which subsequently turned out to be a brilliant move.

PSG full-backs Achraf Hakimi and Nuno Mendes scored goals within the first thirty minutes of the match, falling Villa down by a score of 2-0.

As a result of counterattacks and defensive weaknesses on the part of the home team, both goals were scored. The first goal was scored by custodian Emiliano Martinez, who made a mistake, and the second goal was scored by Villa, who were caught with too many players up the pitch.

Villa supporters, on the other hand, believe that Emery’s most significant selection blunder occurred in the offensive third.

Before the halftime break, the home team did manage to score a goal through Youri Tielemans, bringing the total score to 5-2 on aggregate.

Concerns were raised over the selection of top scorer Ollie Watkins and star offensive midfielder Marco Asensio in the starting lineup. Both of these players are considered to be among the best in the league.

After returning to full fitness, Watkins stated on Monday that he was “not happy” with his recent regular appearances from the bench. Watkins had been suffering from a knee ailment around the time of the international break, but he has since returned to full fitness.

Instead of selecting Marcus Rashford, who was in good form, Emery went with Marcus Rashford in the front line, but fans believed that there could have been room for both of them, along with another attacker named Morgan Rogers.

A supporter submitted the following message: “I don’t understand why Emery is forcing Rashford and Watkins to rotate up front rather than starting both of them together.” Behind Watkins, Rashford, Asensio, and Rogers would likely be the most obvious players to attack.

A second individual commented: “Ollie Watkins not starting in Villa’s biggest game of the season is mental.”

A third participant enquired: “Why’s Unai Emery benching Marco Asensio in back-to-back games?”

“He needs to get Asensio and Watkins on now,” commented a comment from a fourth person.

As it turned out, Villa found their footing in the second half, and John McGinn scored the equaliser for the home team on the evening.

After that, just a few minutes later, Ezri Konsa made it 3-1 by contributing to a great run and assist by Rashford.

Even though there were immediate concerns, Emery may have just made one of the better decisions of the season. Watkins and Asensio are still on the bench, so they may potentially come off the bench.
