Following Robert Sanchez’s terrible first half against Ipswich Town on Sunday afternoon, Chelsea supporters have entirely turned against the custodian. The two teams had somewhat different reasons for playing when they met at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League. While the Tractor Boys are battling mightily to catch up to Wolverhampton Wanderers and avoid relegation, the Blues are still very much in the running for a spot in the top four and the Champions League next season.
Ipswich had only won a few games this season, thus Enzo Maresca’s team entered the game as overwhelming favourites. However, they quickly shocked everyone by taking a 2-0 lead at halftime with to goals from Julio Enciso and Ben Johnson. All of this followed Sanchez’s subpar performance, since he had the opportunity to score both goals.
However, Chelsea supporters have finally had enough of the former Brighton & Hove Albion goalkeeper’s struggles, which have happened multiple times this season.
Chelsea Supporters Have Been Against Sanchez
Following his performance in the first half, they jeered him.

Chelsea supporters were quick to express their opinions about Sanchez and his performance in the match after losing 2-0 to a team in the relegation zone. The club’s number one was the target of the deafening jeers and boos that reverberated throughout Stamford Bridge.
Paul Gilmour of Sky Sports, who watched the match at Stamford Bridge, claims that just prior to Ipswich’s second goal, Sanchez was getting ready to take a short goal kick when his own fans moaned at him. Another chant followed as he motioned for them to calm down. According to the reporter:
“Sanchez set up a short goal kick just prior to the second goal. After the Chelsea supporters behind the goal moaned, Sanchez signalled to the crowd to stop and sent the players upfield. In response, the supporters chanted, “attack attack attack.”
It was difficult not to feel sorry for the keeper after watching such a cruel performance. Even on X (Twitter), a football writer for That’s Football TV posted: “Chelsea supporters jeer Robert Sanchez. Fans inside the stadium are becoming more and more irate.
However, his performances have fallen short, and the Ipswich game is by no means an isolated incident. He has contributed to several goals against Chelsea this season, and it is becoming more and more clear that unless they improve the position, the team will not be able to return to the top of English football.
Online Fans Are Just as Irritated
They’ve spoken a lot about Sanchez

However, it’s not just the Stamford Bridge crowd that has had enough of Sanchez. Many Chelsea fans have also vented their frustrations with the goalie on social media. “Sanchez is a Chelsea problem,” one supporter wrote on X (Twitter), while another wrote, “Robert Sanchez is actually trash.”
“Robert Sanchez is the worst goalie ever,” wrote a third fan, and a fourth admirer added: “I’ve never seen a goalkeeper ‘renowned for his distribution’ be THIS terrible at it? Robert Sanchez passes the ball to an opposing forward at least once during a game.
