Robinho has new job inside ‘prison for the famous’ as ex-Real Madrid and Man City forward serves sentence

An eight-meter-squared cell is shared by Robinho, a former forward for Manchester City and Real Madrid, according to a new report that provides an insight into Robinho’s life behind bars. Robinho is currently being held in one of the most notorious prisons in Brazil.

Robinho was found guilty of participating in a group sexual assault of an Albanian woman who was 22 years old in 2013. In 2017, an Italian court sentenced him to nine years in prison for his involvement in the assault.

After that, the conviction was upheld by Milan’s Court of Appeals, and then it was upheld for a second time by Italy’s highest court in the year 2022.

The 41-year-old, who has continued to deny any wrongdoing and insists that his sexual relations with the woman at a Milan bar were consensual, was eventually imprisoned in the year prior, when a Brazilian high court ruled that Robinho must serve his sentence in his home country. Robinho has continued to deny any wrongdoing.

The former AC Milan striker is currently being held in the Dr. Jose Augusto Cesar Salgado P2 prison in Tremembe, which is located close to Sao Paulo. This conclusion was reached after the judges on Brazil’s Superior Court of Justice voted 9-2 to uphold the conviction.

According to Marca, he is currently incarcerated in a cell that is eight meters squared and shares it with another inmate. The other inmate is believed to be a 22-year-old individual who is serving time for inducing another individual to commit suicide or self-harm.

As the report continues, it is suggested that Robinho provides his fellow inmates with entertainment by playing football while wearing a pair of boots that he has borrowed. “In his first match, on a dirt pitch, and with the guards as the crowd, he received a kick on the third dribble that left him on the ground,” according to the investigation report.

Furthermore, it has been reported that Robinho is eligible to have his sentence reduced by one day for every twelve hours that he works. As a result, he has successfully completed a 600-hour electronics course and is now repairing radios and televisions within the confines of the prison.

In addition, he has finished all ten of the modules that are part of the Education for Work and Citizenship Program in an effort to obtain a reduced sentence or a regime that is considered to be “semi-open.”

“He kept his head down and moved on quietly, he is an exemplary prisoner and has not had any problems with other prisoners, he keeps himself busy,” according to Mario Rosso, the attorney representing him.

This is not the first time that Robinho has asserted that racism was the reason for his conviction in Italy. He stated this in an interview with TV Record in the year 2024. “I played only four years in Italy, and I got tired of seeing stories of racism,” he said.

This is something that continues to exist to this day. It was in 2013 when [the rape case] occurred, and now it is 2024. They are the same individuals who do nothing to combat racism, and they are the ones who sentenced me.

A number of high-profile inmates are reportedly being held at the prison in Sao Paulo, according to the Mail. These inmates include a man who is accused of killing his own daughter and a former physician who is accused of abusing 39 patients who were sedated.
