Bruno Fernandes fires back at Sir Jim Ratcliffe and reveals Man Utd dressing room reaction to ‘overpaid’ claim

Bruno Fernandes has made history by becoming the first player for Manchester United to publicly respond to the recent remarks made by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who is also a co-owner of the club.

The admission made by the British billionaire earlier this week that certain players at Old Trafford are simply “not good enough” and that others are “probably overpaid” in light of their recent struggles caused him to make headlines.

Ratcliffe provided a scathing evaluation of United’s squad this week, despite the fact that the team’s performance in the Europa League has been impressive. United is currently ranked fourteenth in the Premier League with nine wins out of a possible twenty-eight games.

He mentioned players such as Casemiro, Antony, and Jadon Sancho when he was speaking to the BBC. He said that his regime had “inherited” these players.

“If you look at the players we are buying this summer – that we didn’t buy – we’re buying Antony, we’re buying Casemiro, we’re buying [Andre] Onana, we’re buying [Rasmus] Hojlund, we’re buying [Jadon] Sancho,” Ratcliffe explained to reporters.

“All of these things are from the past, and regardless of whether we like it or not, we have inherited them, and we need to figure out how to deal with them. Sancho, who currently plays for Chelsea and for whom we pay half of his wages, will be acquired by us in the summer for a total of seventeen million pounds.

Ratcliffe made a confession that would soon be heard in the Manchester United locker room after the word “overpaid” was brought up in a conversation that was taking place.

“Some are not good enough, some are probably overpaid,” he admitted to reporters. However, it will take some time for us to shape a team that we are fully responsible for and accountable for when it comes to matters. We are currently in the middle of this period, which coincides with the transition from the past to the future that we are going to experience.

Ratcliffe continued by saying, “We are aware that the team possesses a number of outstanding players.” “The captain is an incredible football player; he is.” We absolutely require Bruno [Fernandes] to be here. If we did not have him, things would be very difficult.

As time has passed, Fernandes, the captain of United, has acknowledged that it was “not nice” for the dressing room to hear Ratcliffe’s claim that he was “not good enough.”

In a statement made after he scored a hat trick in the club’s 4-1 victory over Real Sociedad on Thursday night, the Portuguese midfielder made his feelings abundantly clear.

He stated, “Obviously, it is not pleasant to hear certain things,” and he was right. “I don’t think that any player likes to hear criticism or things that are talked about you, that you’re not good enough or you’re overpaid or whatever.”

Additionally, Fernandes stated, “Everyone is under their own contract.” The club is willing to fulfil the contracts at the time that you come here, at the time that you do a new contract, or at any other time, and it is all about you demonstrating that you are capable of being an important member of the club.

In addition, the 30-year-old player disclosed that he declined an offer to leave United during the summer of last year.

According to Fernandes, “I sat with the club because I had an offer to leave,” he explained. “During our conversation, we discussed the possibility of me leaving the club or remaining there. What they wanted from me was communicated to me. I have just enquired as to whether or not they continue to consider me to be a part of the club’s future. During that time, I also had a conversation with Erik Ten Hag.

“He was very clear with me, and the club in general was very clear with me, that they believed I would play a significant role in this rebuilding process. In my opinion, we have the potential to achieve success.
