Lee Carsley has announced the England under-21 squad that will be playing during the upcoming international break. The squad is filled with a multitude of talented players, including a number of Premier League stars who are currently in excellent form.
It will be the first time in 2025 that the Young Lions will compete on their own turf when they take on Portugal, led by Rui Jorge, at the Hawthorns, which is the home of West Bromwich Albion. The match will take place on March 24.
The team that Carsley is coaching will travel to Lorient three days before the game in order to compete against a France team that is loaded with stars. Some of the players they will face include Hugo Ekitike, Wilson Odobert, and Rayan Cherki.
In terms of selections, Carsley has chosen a large number of players who are currently performing well from all over Europe. Alongside Jobe Bellingham, who is currently playing for Sunderland, Jamie Gittens, who is still performing exceptionally well for Borussia Dortmund, is included.
As a result of his outstanding performance for the overachievers Nottingham Forest, Elliot Anderson has also been called up to the senior squad. Additionally, three players from Ipswich, namely Liam Delap, Jaden Philogene, and Omari Hutchinson, are being utilised in the forward positions.
After making significant contributions under Mikel Arteta in recent games, Ethan Nwaneri, who has been one of Arsenal’s most impressive players of late, was expected to be included in Thomas Tuchel’s senior squad. However, the 17-year-old will have to wait for his opportunity to break into the team.
The combined market value of England’s most recent Under-21 squad is estimated to be over 400 million pounds, according to Transfermarkt. This comes as a number of players who are currently in good form, such as Jay Stansfield and Archie Grey, are getting ready to play.

A number of fans on social media have expressed their opinions regarding the squad, with many of them expressing the opinion that the Young Lions will be more entertaining to watch than Thomas Tuchel’s most recent senior squad, which includes Jordan Henderson and Kyle Walker.
Brathwaite, Wharton, and Delap ought to all be included in the senior squad, according to one of the comments. Someone else made the following observation: “Why is our under-21 team better than the first team?” Another person said, “That is one of the best U21 squads I’ve ever seen.”
An additional individual stated, “This would in all honesty give the team that Thomas Tuchel named a run for its money.” To tell you the truth, I wouldn’t be surprised if they won.
“That’s better than the first team squad,” wrote a fourth person, and a fifth person added their thoughts. “Rather watch this team than the senior squad tbh.”
