Thomas Tuchel reveals Ben White’s stance on playing for England after his boycott under Gareth Southgate

Ben White’s decision to play for England has been confirmed by Thomas Tuchel, following his lengthy boycott of the team under the leadership of Gareth Southgate and Steve Holland, who was White’s former assistant coach.

The defender for Arsenal, who is 27 years old, has not played for his country since the 2022 World Cup, which took place in Qatar.

In March of the previous year, White made a request to be excluded from the 25-man squad that Gareth Southgate had assembled for the friendlies against Brazil and Belgium. According to reports, he was dissatisfied and had a disagreement with Steve Holland.

After some time had passed, The Athletic reported that White and Holland had a conversation during the 2022 World Cup. A few days later, the Arsenal defender returned home from the squad due to “personal reasons.”

It was then reported by The Telegraph that the rift started at England’s base in Doha, after Holland asked Kyle Walker about Manchester City’s performance during the 2021/22 season. This was the alleged cause of the rift.

After that, he asked White the same question about Arsenal, and it is said that the defender responded by saying that he did not know either of the answers. Holland is said to have responded that the reason was “because White was not sufficiently interested in football.” This is taken from the previous statement.

Thomas Tuchel, the new manager of England, has confirmed that White has made himself available for the Three Lions after taking a hiatus. This comes after White had been absent for more than two years.

The German said the following to the reporters during his press conference that took place on Friday morning: “He loves to be back in the squad but I think it’s too early for him given the seriousness of the injury that he had.”

Then, Tuchel continued, “I am overjoyed that he has returned.” Two consecutive workouts have been completed by him. Our attention was focused on his development. I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to everyone at Arsenal and extend my huge compliments to the medical and performance department at the FA.

Following White’s exclusion from the Three Lions, former England international Nicky Butt stated that White should never be selected for the Three Lions again. Tuchel’s decision comes just a few days after Butt made his statement.

He is a top player, and he is good enough to go in the squad, but he is not that good to beg him to come back,” said Butt. “He is good enough to go in the squad.” The phrase “I don’t want to play” or “I want to get ready for next season” has been uttered by a few individuals more than once over the course of the years.

You could also say something like, “I don’t want to play,” or “I don’t want to be a substitute.” By the time you have broken that, I do not believe there should be any way to go back.
