Chelsea ‘agree’ stunning deal out of nowhere for star who looked ‘destined’ to join Man United

According to a bombshell that was dropped by Fabrizio Romano, Chelsea has taken advantage of Manchester United’s approach to acquire one of their most desired players.

Under Ruben Amorim’s leadership, United was able to acquire two players during the January transfer window. Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven came to United from Lecce and Arsenal, respectively.

However, the team that has won the Premier League thirteen times is in dire need of a squad overhaul, and there were strong reports indicating that they had agreed to a deal for Amorim’s priority signing.

In spite of the fact that Amorim immediately declared that he would not attempt to sign players from his previous club Sporting CP, the Portuguese news outlet A BOLA reported that United had made a deal to acquire the services of Geovany Quenda, a 17-year-old winger.

In August of 2024, the wonderkid made his debut for Amorim, becoming the youngest player to ever score for the Lisbon giants. He was given the opportunity to make his debut.

In September, Quanda signed a deal contract that increased his release clause from €45 million to €100 million. Amorim mentioned that he was “very talented” and “very mature” in his description of him.

In spite of this, Romano reported early on Friday morning that Chelsea had gazumped their Premier League rivals, claiming that “here we go” on the transfer. This came at a time when it appeared that United had reached an agreement for the potential player.

Romano stated that a medical examination had been finished following a “secret blitz,” and it is anticipated that Quenda will continue to play for Sporting for one more season before moving on to Chelsea in 2026.

Romano posted the following message on X, which was formerly known as Twitter: “Chelsea has agreed to a deal for Portuguese top talent Geovany Quenda, and here we go!”

After a covert blitz, Quenda’s medical issues have been resolved, and he will be joining Chelsea in 2026. The club-to-club agreement with Sporting has been finalised, and Quenda has confirmed that they are interested in the Chelsea project and Enzo Maresca’s plans.

David Ornstein of The Athletic reported on the agreement shortly after it was made public. The agreement includes a fee ranging from 45 million to 50 million euros and a seven-year contract that will last until 2033.

Quenda, who Chelsea intends to implement as a winger, will have the opportunity to extend his contract for an additional year if Chelsea chooses to do so.

Having the ability to play as a wing-back, Quenda has participated in 43 matches across all competitions for Sporting. In August, he was called up to the Portugal national team from the Portugal national team.

A player for Manchester City has given his stamp of approval.
Roberto Martinez, the manager of the team, referred to him as having a “spectacular future” in the sport, and Bernardo Silva, the midfielder for Manchester City and Portugal, also praised his qualities.

Silva is quoted as saying, “It is impressive to see the level Quenda is at at this age,” during a press conference that took place in September.

“I did not participate in Benfica’s youth team,” I said. However, it was not for the juniors; rather, it was for the youth team. I did not participate in the Benfica youth team’s games. At the age of seventeen, he is already representing Sporting and the national team, and the reason for this is that he is deserving of it and possesses the skills necessary to be here.

“If he continues, he will certainly reach greater heights than he is at now.”
