Thomas Tuchel ‘set to call up’ shock player who was snubbed by Gareth Southgate for Euro 2024 squad

It has been reported that Thomas Tuchel has made the decision to give Marcus Rashford a recall to the England team after he had been away from the national setup for a year. However, one other regular player has been left out of the decision.

On Friday morning, Tuchel will announce his first England squad, and fans are eagerly awaiting to see how his selection will differ from that of Gareth Southgate, who was Tuchel’s predecessor as England manager.

After having successful seasons in the Premier League and, in the case of Morgan Rogers, European football, it was reported on Thursday evening that both Dan Burn of Newcastle and Morgan Rogers of Aston Villa are on the verge of receiving their first call-up of their respective teams.

It has been reported by The Athletic that Rashford, who is currently playing for Aston Villa, is going to be joining Rogers in the squad.

In March of 2024, the 27-year-old player made his final appearance for the Three Lions, which was a friendly match against Brazil. Southgate made the decision not to select him for the Euro 2024 tournament.

Following his suspension by Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim, he did not participate in any football games between the months of December and February, a period of nearly two months duration.

But a loan move to Villa has revitalised him, and his impressive form for the team that is currently in the quarterfinals of the Champions League has earned him a recall to the Three Lions squad. The forward admitted that this was one of his primary goals when he signed with the Midlands club.

According to reports, his inclusion will come at the expense of Jack Grealish. This is expected to occur.

Although the 29-year-old has had a difficult time finding his footing at Manchester City throughout the entire season, he was selected for Lee Carsley’s first Nations League squad and scored in the victory over Republic of Ireland.

Due to an injury, he was removed from the squad for the month of November, and it would appear that he has not performed well enough at the club level to be reinstated.

It is possible to say the opposite about Rashford, who has contributed four assists across nine different competitions for Villa and is starting to return to his previous level of performance.

A month ago, manager Unai Emery made the following statement in reference to the United loanee and fellow new arrival Marco Asensio: “They have a lot of skills to add in our structure, helping us like they are doing.”

“They are playing in our structure and feeling comfortable, scoring goals and getting assists for their teammates, and they are playing in our structure.” There is an increase in their self-assurance.
