Micah Richards, a former star player for Manchester City, recently made the accusation that Sergio Aguero, a former teammate of his, had been “lying” throughout his entire Premier League career.
After scoring 184 goals in 275 appearances for City, including a dramatic winner against Queens Park Rangers to win the club’s first Premier League title, Argentine striker Sergio Aguero is considered to be one of the best strikers to ever play in the English top flight.
During his time with the Etihad club, the former striker scored 260 goals across all competitions in a total of 390 matches.
Prior to being forced to retire in 2022 due to cardiac arrhythmia, Aguero left City in 2021 to join Barcelona. He had been playing for City since 2021.
In spite of the fact that he will forever be regarded as a legend in both the Premier League and City, there is one thing that the striker never told the truth about.
Aguero did not participate in any interviews conducted in the English language; he did not do so until after the conclusion of his final game for the club.
Despite the fact that he did give an interview alongside Richards following a 3-1 victory over West Ham, the Sky Sports pundit claims that he pretended he did not speak English in order to avoid having to participate in interviews.
Because of this, individuals such as Richards, Joleon Lescott, and James Milner were required to perform the majority of the media duties.
“This is the thing Gary – Aguero was lying,” Richards said on the podcast titled “Remaining in Football.”
In response to their request for him to participate in interviews, he responded by stating, “I do not speak English.” However, he had an excellent command of the English language.
“He was completely aware of all the slang terms and terminologies, and it goes without saying that conversing with your friends and conducting an interview are two completely different things; however, he played on that fact a great deal.
“He was able to not be caught. It was necessary for all of the English boys, including myself, James Milner, and Joleon Lescott, to participate in the media because Kun had just stated that he did not speak any English.
Aguero played for a number of different teams, including Independiente, Atletico Madrid, City, and Barcelona, and he scored 385 goals over the course of over 685 matches.
