Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn dismantles Ruben Amorim’s claims about Marcus Rashford at Man Utd

Following Ruben Amorim’s criticism of Marcus Rashford for what he perceived to be a lack of effort, John McGinn has provided some insight into Rashford’s beginnings at Aston Villa. This makes for an interesting read when it comes to the forward’s career.

Rashford moved to Villa from his boyhood club Manchester United in February as part of a loan agreement that lasted for six months and included a buy option worth forty million pounds.

It was in December that the 27-year-old forward, who had not played for United since December, was not included in their squad for the Manchester derby. Prior to his departure, he was only included in one more matchday squad.

Amorim stated in January that he would rather select Jorge Vital, his goalkeeping coach, than a player who “doesn’t give their maximum every day.” This was in response to a question that was asked about Rashford’s absence from his squad to play Fulham.

“The reason is always the same that it is. It is because of the training, specifically the way that I believe a football player ought to behave in training and in life, he explained to the reporters. Every day, every little thing is important. It is not possible for me to change if things do not change.

In response to the question of whether or not Rashford would continue to be a member of United after the transfer window closes, Amorim stated that he would prefer to select his 63-year-old goalkeeping coach over the forward.

Every single player find themselves in the same predicament. If you give it your all and do the things that are right, we will be able to make use of every player,” he went on to say. “I will put Vital before I put a player that doesn’t give the maximum every day, so I will not change in that.”

Amorim continued by implying that Rashford was unable to adjust to the manner in which he desired to approach both training and playing.

He stated, “I couldn’t place Marcus in a position where he would be able to see how you are supposed to play football and train in the way that I see it.” In addition, there are times when you have a single player who is really good with one coach, but when that same player is with another coach, things are different.

“I just want to wish Rashford and Unai Emery the best of luck, and I hope that they are able to connect with each other because he is a very good player.”

In his first week at Aston Villa, Rashford is said to have made a positive impression, with Unai Emery praising the forward for his “fantastic” performance in training. This comes after Rashford left the club where he had spent his childhood.

In addition, the forward has been praised by his teammate John McGinn for his strong work ethic and “low maintenance” attitude in the early stages of his Villa career. McGinn made this statement after the forward had recorded three assists in his first six games for the Villains.

“They’ve been a breath of fresh air, three really good guys, obviously come with big reputations but they haven’t shown any ego,” McGinn told the television network TNT Sports.

In order to get their careers back on track, they put in a lot of effort, and they are relatively low maintenance.

They obviously weren’t playing at their clubs, so what we can do for them is provide them with a platform to do that and be happy. In exchange, all we ask of them is to be a good teammate, to work hard, to do the things that we’ve all been doing over the past couple of seasons, and to demonstrate their quality. They’ve proven to be outstanding.

According to McGinn, when asked about Rashford and Marco Asensio during a press conference that took place prior to their Champions League match against Club Brugge, he responded by saying, “There are no big egos, well we have not seen that yet if there is.” It is obvious that they come with a tremendous reputation, but they have managed to blend in quite well.

Cole Brannigan, a young player for Villa, shared his thoughts on what it was like to train alongside Rashford earlier this month.

Brannigan stated the following in an interview with the Northern Irish publication News Letter: “He is by far the best player I’ve seen technically.” While he was in possession of the ball, he was simply absurd. I was unable to bear witness to what I was seeing.

A family group chat is currently taking place, and I just added, “Marcus Rashford is completely and utterly ridiculous.” Marcus Rashford is someone I look up to, and I am fortunate to have him as a member of the club. You should make an effort to improve your own game by taking advantage of the fact that the club does a good job of asking those players questions.
