West Ham have issued a ‘painful’ statement amid growing exodus fears, with Derby County’s fate now sealed

Derby County will have a glamour fixture on their itinerary next season after the Premier League and the sides who slid down to the Championship were confirmed.

Derby County will face a high-profile Championship encounter against West Ham United next season after the Hammers were demoted from the Premier League.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side needed to win and defeated Leeds 3-0, but Tottenham’s victory over Everton terminated the Hammers’ 14-year Premier League tenure.

Relegation enraged the club’s owners, and they will now play in the second tier next season alongside Derby, Burnley, and Wolves, who have all slipped out of the first flight.

There are now serious questions about the future of their key players, with Jarrod Bowen among many who are expected to be targeted.

The Hammers expressed gratitude to supporters for their support over a difficult season in a message posted on their website.West Ham United’s relegation from the Premier League has been confirmed today, which is a sad and heartbreaking event.

“The club wishes to sincerely thank every single one of our supporters for the constant and loyal backing they have given, throughout what has been an extremely difficult and disappointing season.”In the end, we did not repay that support. The simple truth is that we have not been good enough.

We must address the implications of our failure with honesty, transparency, and a commitment to mend, refocus, and rebuild.”West Ham United’s identity is rooted in the values and traditions of east London,

as well as the spirit of the Claret and Blue community. The club recognizes the difficult season and aims to rebuild pride, faith, and belief. As we have in the past, we will battle with everything we have to return to English football’s top level at the first opportunity. The hard work to make that vision a reality will begin immediately.”

Derby last faced West Ham in an FA Cup tie at Pride Park in the 2022/23 season, when they met in the fourth round.

The Hammers triumphed 2-0 on the night, with goals from Michail Antonio and Jarrod Bowen ending Derby’s 14-match undefeated streak.
