Brazilian sensation Estevao Willian has signed a multimillion-dollar contract with Chelsea, but Palmeiras manager Abel Ferreira has cautioned the Blues not to pursue any more of his players.

Following Chelsea’s £55 million acquisition of teenage sensation Estevao Willian, Palmeiras manager Abel Ferreira has acknowledged that he is “scared” of Chelsea’s financial capabilities.

A deal has been reached for the 17-year-old to join the Blues. Known by his nickname “Messinho,” he will join the West Londoners upon turning 18 in the following year.

Chelsea is anticipated to pay £29 million up front, with substantial add-ons pushing the total cost to £55 million. Not everyone is pleased with the deal, despite the fact that the young player’s club Palmeiras has received a sizable sum for him.

The Blues have received a nod from manager Abel Ferreira if they are considering adding any more of his players. He stated: “Because I never know what will happen in football, there are moments when I’m afraid to publicly express my opinions about the players.

“I believe that Estevao Willian is a player who enjoys having the ball glued to his foot because of his versatility.” In terms of his worth, I give our president credit because, if there’s one thing she excels at, it’s negotiating. She’s quite skilled at it!

“What am I supposed to say? To be honest, no one has confirmed to me that we sold Endrick to Real Madrid either of the previous two years. My fear for Chelsea is that nobody will stick around—not the coaches, not the players, not the staff.

“May they depart peacefully from us here. We desire the elimination of that temptation. I only hope Chelsea doesn’t choose another partner. I’m afraid too!

For Palmeiras, Estevao Willian has had an incredible breakthrough season. The young player has made 18 appearances across all competitions, scoring three goals and dishing out assists.

Todd Boehly’s reign saw the Blues target other young South Americans in addition to him. Prior to the 2024–2025 season, they have also decided to sign Kendry Paez from Independiente.

This season, Santos, the massive Brazilian team, also signed Angelo and Deivid Washington. Only a few months prior, midfielder Andrey Santos moved from Vasco da Gama.

Last term, two of the three were all loaned out. Santos was originally a temporary player for Nottingham Forest, but he was called up after few opportunities and eventually transferred to Strasbourg, another BlueCo team.

Angelo played for the French team during the season as well, but he only managed 15 starts and was not able to record any goals. Despite only making three appearances during the season, Washington scored six goals in 11 games for Chelsea’s under-23 team.
