This season, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur are vying for a spot in the top four, but Gary Neville thinks both teams have a huge chance to win.
Although Unai Emery’s team has long held the fourth spot in the standings, Spurs have managed to overtake them. With a game remaining, Spurs leads the teams by just three points.
Villa lost the opportunity to put some distance between them and Ange Postecoglou’s team when they were defeated 4-0 at home earlier this month. Nine points ahead of Manchester United in sixth place, Villa are still in a reasonably strong position, especially considering that the Premier League may secure a fifth Champions League spot this season.
Neville has eliminated his former team from the race for the top four, with United trailing Spurs by just six points, but he also claims that Villa and Spurs have both been “wobbly” this season.
“I don’t think you can call it,” Neville stated in reference to the Overlap. It seems as though neither of you is sure of anything, and you both feel unsteady. It was shocking how United lost to Fulham at home.
“I believe we’ll reflect on that at the end of the season; if United had received an additional three points, they would have been in the running.” They’re simply a little bit too far away, and Liverpool is coming up in a few weeks. Tottenham and Villa have what it takes to really shine.
When Villa hosts their rivals from the West Midlands, Wolves, on Saturday at 5:30 p.m., they will be back in Premier League action.
