In his most recent press conference, which was held in advance of tomorrow’s encounter with Aston Villa, Guardiola discussed the reasons behind Douglas Luiz’s departure from the team rather than his inclusion in the senior squad.
He stated: “It was not possible for him to be with us due to a [lack of] work permit. He had to take action, so he moved to Girona [on loan], and now that he’s settled in well at Villa, I’m glad for him.

When the midfielder from Vasco De Gama was just 19 years old, City signed him to a five-year contract during the summer transfer window of 2017.
The Brazilian was sold to Villa in the 2019 summer transfer window for £15 million after going on loan to Girona for two years.
