Real Madrid has decided to change their summer transfer plans, which will have a significant impact on one of the Premier League’s biggest stars, according to reports.
Last summer, Los Blancos signed two high-profile players, including Brazilian wonderkid and France sensation Kylian Mbappe, who joined Real on a free transfer after his contract with Paris Saint-Germain expired.
The 15-time European champions are known for making marquee signings every summer, and in the 2023 transfer window, they spent £88.5 million to sign Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund.
Bayern Munich’s left back Alphonso Davies was a priority target for a while before deciding to stay in Bavaria, but Relevo has provided an update on how Real’s transfer plans are progressing.
Interest in Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has been well documented, and there has been no movement on the England international’s contract situation as his contract nears the end of its term.
According to Relevo, the deal is “on the verge of being signed,” continuing Real’s tradition of signing world-class players without a transfer fee.
They also appeared to be interested in Arsenal’s William Saliba, seeing him as an important addition who could transform their backline.
Saliba is arguably the best central defender in the world after Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk, but Real are said to be in no hurry to sign him or another defender due to the emergence of 22-year-old Raul Asencio, who has been in excellent form since making his La Liga debut in November.
Asencio’s path sets an example for young players Jacobo Ramon and Joan Martínez, who are expected to follow in his footsteps at Santiago Bernabeu.
They also have the imperious Antonio Rudiger, David Alaba, and a returning Eder Militao to bolster their defensive lineup.
It’s also worth noting that Aurelien Tchouameni’s performances in his preferred holding midfield role have cooled interest in Real Sociedad and Spain’s Martin Zubimendi, who is widely expected to join Arsenal this summer.
Dani Ceballos, a former Arsenal loanee, is set to be rewarded for his performances with a contract extension.
