Premier League managers’ reaction to Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea exit speaks volumes

After just one season as Chelsea’s manager, Mauricio Pochettino departed, and several of his Premier League counterparts have since shared their opinions on the Blues’ choice.

Many people were taken aback by Mauricio Pochettino’s departure from Chelsea, including Gary O’Neil and Rob Edwards, two of his Premier League rivals.

Tuesday night, the former Tottenham manager departed Stamford Bridge following just one season in command. He left on mutual consent, and Chelsea is currently searching for a new manager.

Many people were taken aback by the news, including a few of Pochettino’s rivals. The decision surprised Gary O’Neill, the manager of Wolves, especially in light of the form Chelsea had been playing in the latter months of the season under Pochettino.

In their final 15 Premier League games of the season, Chelsea has only suffered one loss. To guarantee a spot in Europe for the upcoming season, they also won their next five straight games.

At the LMA Awards, O’Neil said, “Really, really surprised,” in an interview with Sky Sports. I felt they appeared to be a good side, especially with the way the season concluded. Talk about hard jobs and what I saw at Wolves, but he saw an extremely difficult changing room full of players who had signed contracts.

“It was evident that it would take time to simply try to hold everyone together. They appeared to be gathering some steam.

“A competent supervisor. Excellent club, unique Chelsea club, undoubtedly one of the biggest in London. Mauricio should find another excellent position and continue to demonstrate his abilities as a manager. I’m sure they’ll find a worthy replacement, and I anticipate Chelsea being very strong the following season.

In his comments regarding Pochettino’s departure, Luton manager Rob Edwards expressed his surprise as well. “I am shocked,” he uttered. It’s clear that they had a great season finale. Since Mauricio is an incredible manager, I was taken aback by the news.

“To be honest, especially at this level of football, nothing surprises me too much in football these days.”

Chelsea has several names on their shortlist and is currently searching for yet another manager from the Todd Boehly era. According to reports, Sebastian Hoeness of Stuttgart has also been given consideration, and Thomas Frank, the manager of Brentford, is one of the candidates to take over.

The Blues have also selected Kieran McKenna and Enzo Maresca to their shortlist. With Leicester and Ipswich, respectively, the two received promotion from the Championship during the previous campaign. In addition to Thomas Tuchel and Roberto De Zerbi, Michel of Girona and Vincent Kompany of Burnley have also been mentioned.
