The ten millionth Erik
Man United’s dismissal of Erik ten Hag resulted in a significant financial loss for the club, as evidenced by the publication of the club’s second-quarter financial report today.
After a streak of only one victory in eight matches across all competitions, the Dutchman was fired by United at the end of October. This came after a losing streak of eight matches.
It has been confirmed by Manchester United that the total amount of money spent on operating expenses during the second quarter of 2024 was £196.4 million.
During that time period, there were exceptional items that incurred a cost of £14.5 million. These costs were associated with the termination of Ten Hag and a number of other employees.
Ten Hag was able to win two trophies during his time at Old Trafford, which led to the extension of his contract with the club until the year 2026, which was agreed upon during the summer.
In spite of the fact that he was successful in the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup, United found it necessary to acquire Ruben Amorim because of the poor start to the season.
The words of Antony: “I wake up with a smile every day.”
Antony, who was a failure for Manchester United, has revealed the secret behind his remarkable return to form while he was on loan at Real Betis this season.
With a transfer fee of £85 million, the Brazilian player became the most expensive player to be acquired by Manchester United under the management of Erik ten Hag, but he is only second on the club’s all-time list, behind only Paul Pogba.
When the winger made his debut in September 2022 against Arsenal, he scored a goal, but it turned out to be a huge dream come true for him.
Ruben Amorim left him out in the cold after he only managed to manage 11 more goals and five assists in 96 appearances. He was left out in the cold.
In the 2023–2024 season, it was not until Antony’s 23rd appearance across all competitions that he finally scored a goal after a drought of 31 games. This goal came against Newport.
After making 29 appearances in the Premier League, he finished with only one goal and one assist, and he even had to fill in as a left back for the team.
Before joining Betis a month ago, his only goal for United during the 2024–25 season was a penalty kick that he scored in a 7–0 victory over Barnsley in the Carabao Cup. This victory brought United to the top of the League One standings.
On the other hand, Antony has got off to a strong start in Spain, where he has already scored three goals and provided one assist in just four games since joining the La Liga teams.
The fact that I have rediscovered who I am stands out as the most significant thing. Every day, I am content with the fact that I am having fun. As he explained to the Spanish news outlet AS, “When we are happy and content, things go well.”
“Although I have been working a lot, I have been playing a moderate amount. I had to find a way to be content with myself. For me, the most important thing is to achieve the highest possible level of contentment with myself. Despite the fact that I got very little playing time in Manchester, I am thankful to both them and the coach who had a conversation with me.
“In addition, I have been very successful in Manchester; I have won two titles, and I am extremely grateful for that. However, when I say that I have found myself here, I am happy, and the people here are similar to those of us in Brazil. The sun comes in very handy.
“This place brings me a great deal of joy. It is very important to me that I am able to welcome each day with a smile on my face.
