Plymouth Argyle faces more Lorent Tolaj exit fears as transfer update emerges.

Plymouth Argyle are expecting to make an instant return to the Championship following a rocky start under Tom Cleverley, and may face a battle to keep some of their key players this summer.

A difficult summer at Plymouth, which saw former Bosnian manager Miron Muslic leave for Schalke without notice, led the Pilgrims to move rapidly to locate a replacement.

Tom Cleverley, fresh from being fired by Watford, moved to Devon to take over at Home Park, and after a rocky start, has catapulted the club to the play-offs with only a few games remaining.

With four games remaining, Plymouth is four points outside the top six, and with Stevenage and Stockport County sitting above them with games in hand, their chances of breaking into the top six look increasingly slim, especially after failing to take all three points at home to rivals Exeter City.

Regardless of whether division they play in next season, Plymouth will have a battle to preserve some of their prized assets, with one player in particular attracting more attention than others.

Will Lorent Tolaj leave Plymouth Argyle this summer? A new transfer update has dropped.

Lorent Tolaj, a Swiss forward, is expected to be in high demand this summer, according to Pete O’Rourke of X. Numerous clubs in the Championship and overseas are keeping an eye on his status with Plymouth.

Tolaj, 24, has been brilliant since joining Plymouth in the summer, with Cleverley’s team matching the £1.2 million release clause in his contract to get him from Port Vale, signing him until the summer of 2029.

With 16 goals and five assists in 29 league games in his first season in the third division, it’s no surprise that the Swiss striker is attracting attention ahead of a summer transfer.

The former Brighton forward has been steadily improving over the last several years, having shined for Aldershot Town in the National League, then taking League Two by storm with Port Vale, and now having another great season in League One with Plymouth.

Fortunately for the Pilgrims, Cleverley disclosed at a ‘Meet the Manager’ event that Tolaj’s contract does not include a release clause, placing Plymouth in a strong position to demand a fee.

Championship clubs will have to fight with teams from across the continent for his services this summer, as Plymouth prepares for the anticipated interest in their star attacker.

Whether Plymouth returns to the Championship next year remains to be seen, but bids for Tolaj will undoubtedly arrive in the coming months, and the club must be prepared.’

Tom Cleverley will be reluctant to see Lorent Tolaj leave Plymouth this summer following a brilliant debut season.

Few people will be as disappointed as head coach Cleverley to see Tolaj leave Plymouth this summer.

The Swiss attacker, who plays alongside Aribim Pepple up front, has been fantastic and is a major reason why the club is still in contention for the play-offs despite their dismal start.

If the 24-year-old does leave Home Park this summer, it will not be on the cheap, as Plymouth will do everything in their power to maximise their profit from the striker.

However, they would almost probably want to keep him in any case, since Plymouth faces a tough struggle to keep Tolaj this summer, with Championship clubs circling.
