Pep Guardiola played key role in Bayern Munich hiring Vincent Kompany as private talks revealed

Vincent Kompany was hired by Bayern Munich largely thanks to the influence of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.

The former captain of City, Kompany, was officially announced as the new manager of Bayern on Wednesday, despite his inability to keep Burnley in the Premier League.

“Working for this club is a great honor,” Kompany said in a statement following his appointment. In international football, FC Bayern is a legendary team.

“As a coach, you have to be true to yourself: I enjoy being creative and aggressive with the ball, and we also need to be brave and aggressive on the field. Now, I’m excited about the simplest things: forming a team and collaborating with the players. When the groundwork is done, success will come.

It has now been disclosed that Guardiola, who oversaw Kompany while he was at City, was involved in the procedure.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano disclosed on social media that Bayern Munich has enquired about Pep Guardiola’s thoughts regarding Vincent Kompany following the disclosure of internal talks on Monday. Bayern and Pep still have a great relationship.

“Guardiola praised Kompany as a brilliant coach, a smart guy, and a perfect fit for the position.”

“Vincent Kompany is a type of coach who fits in very well with FC Bayern’s playing philosophy and identity: his teams want the ball, want to play dominant, high-intensity football,” stated Christoph Freund, Bayern’s sporting director, in the meantime.

“He’s a young, highly aspirational coach with extensive international experience who understands exactly what the players need to do on the field. He can and will contribute greatly to our team.

Burnley, Kompany’s previous team, also issued a statement confirming the Belgian’s exit.

It stated: “Although we were initially optimistic about keeping our manager, the evolving circumstances rendered this unfeasible.

“We appreciate Vincent’s desire to pursue new opportunities and acknowledge the appeal and prestige of a team like Bayern Munich. We will soon make an announcement after we begin the search for a new manager.
