Paul Pogba willing to take wage cut to join shock club as sporting director confirms interest

March 2025 is when the midfield player can return to playing competitive football.

Paul Pogba will be able to resume his career in March 2025 after a lengthy ban. The 31-year-old midfielder for Juventus agreed to end his contract with the Serie A powerhouses in November of last year in anticipation of a much-anticipated return to football, but he was suspended for four years in 2023 after an initial sample taken after a game against Udinese revealed that DHEA, a compound that promotes the production of hormones in the body, including testosterone, was found in his system. So what next? The midfielder’s priority is to stay in Europe, according to Italian journalist Nicolò Schira, who claims a number of bids have been made from clubs in the Saudi Pro League and MLS.

Pogba, meanwhile, is willing to take a wage cut in order to join Ligue 1 side Marseille.

A report from RMC Sport went on to claim that the prospect of bringing Pogba to the Stade Vélodrome has been ‘validated’ by manager Roberto De Zerbi.

Marseille’s sporting director, Medhi Benatia, revealed the team’s interest in Pogba in an interview with the French newspaper L’Equipe.

The former defender for Juventus and Bayern Munich also explained why the midfield player was not acquired by Marseille during the winter transfer window.

The former Juventus defender declared, “He is a player, a man that both President Longoria and I admire.”

Did it make sense to bring in a Pogba who wasn’t yet in shape? We considered him and wanted to do it. Using a player who wouldn’t have been playing at his best at the conclusion of the season ran the risk of upsetting the team’s equilibrium.

“But, if the chance presents itself, we would be delighted to have a player like Pogba who can assist us in the upcoming campaign,” Benatia continued.
