Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, is unsure of his future with the team following Saturday’s FA Cup victory over Manchester City.
The Red Devils’ FA Cup victory guarantees them a spot in the Europa League the following year. After leading United to victory, Ten Hag was questioned about his future.
“I don’t have any doubts, but it’s obviously not up to me, but I am working on a project,” he stated (via ITV Football).
“How we played and how we developed the team in the previous season. We participated in both finals. We finished third in the league and won the Carabao Cup.
“The reasons for this season’s messiness are there.” We ultimately took home another trophy.
“Below, you can observe how the players and the team are progressing. Diogo Dalot, for example, gave an outstanding performance, and Scott McTominay scored ten goals. Bruno Fernandes also did well.
“There is a lot of potential, but it will take time.”
Erik ten Hag won the FA Cup by outwitting Pep Guardiola.
The head coach of United arranged his team in a 4-2-2-2 configuration to impede Man City’s progress in the central areas.
The Citizens had no choice but to play wide in order to keep United’s defensive structure intact.
Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford were positioned on the wings to attack quickly and provide width during transitions.
Kyle Walker’s incredible speed allowed him to neutralize Rashford’s threat. But Josko Gvardiol was tortured by Garnacho on his right flank.
Whenever City had a chance to attack, Kobbie Mainoo, Scott McTominay, and Bruno Fernandes crowded the box.
After the intermission, Guardiola introduced Jeremy Doku in response to Ten Hag’s masterclass.
The attacking threat that City lacked in the first half was supplied by Doku. Even though the winger cut his team’s deficit in half, United was still able to win the coveted trophy.
Ten Hag’s 2023–24 campaign was not good, and his future at United is now in jeopardy.
To outwit Guardiola in the championship game, he displayed excellent tactical intelligence. There are some United supporters who would prefer the Dutchman to play one more season.
INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe will determine whether to appoint a new manager or stick with Ten Hag.
