According to reports, the Portuguese manager’s recent remarks have left Manchester United players “angry” with Ruben Amorim. But because they are not yet close enough to the 40-year-old, the Red Devils’ playing staff is reportedly unable to speak with him about the issue.
Since his appointment in October 2024, Amorim has failed to get the most out of his team, and supporters are still disappointed by the outcomes. Despite playing with just 10 men for the entirety of the game, the Old Trafford-based team defeated Ipswich Town 3-2. It was their first Premier League win since defeating Fulham 1-0 in late January.
Fans are incredulous at the team’s performance on the pitch and the way the club is being managed in the boardroom, and morale seems to be at an all-time low throughout the club. Earlier this week, United’s CEO, Omar Berrada, declared that 200 club positions are in jeopardy due to anticipated more budget cuts.
Ruben Amorim Blames His Players For Staff Cuts
These comments are said to have been met with a ‘furious’ reaction by players
The Man United manager made public remarks earlier this week regarding the ongoing issue behind the scenes, which has already resulted in the layoff of numerous employees. Amorim seems to place a large portion of the blame on his players when he said:
“Although we must deal with every issue facing the club, it is crucial to comprehend how we got to this point.
“It has a lot to do with the lack of success of the football team because we are the engine of any football club.”
The Sun claims that these remarks have infuriated the United team. However, the team hasn’t discussed the matter with their boss because Amorim is still relatively new to the role, a source told The Sun:
“You would think that Amorim and the players were getting along well if you went to Carrington. In actuality, though, the players are angry at being held responsible for the club’s financial issues.
“However, they haven’t challenged the manager as they haven’t yet formed a bond with him.”
According to the article, captain Bruno Fernandes has acted as a go-between for the management and the players and is one of the closest players to the manager. It remains to be seen if people who feel wronged by the public speech raise the issue.
When they meet Fulham at Old Trafford in the FA Cup fifth round, Amorim and his team will try to build on their victory over Ipswich. The English powerhouses’ sole chances of winning this season are in the domestic tournament and the UEFA Europa League.
