Erik ten Hag, the manager of Manchester United, will find out next week whether he will remain with the team after Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Ineos evaluate the 2023–24 season.

After months of rumors, Erik ten Hag’s future will be decided by Manchester United’s top brass when they convene next week.

Ten Hag was under the impression going into this Saturday’s FA Cup final versus Manchester City that the club’s management, under Sir Jim Ratcliffe, had already made up its mind to fire him following a disastrous Premier League season.

Even though that Guardian report stated that Ten Hag’s job would not be saved by winning the FA Cup, it has since surfaced that a season review will be held the following week to decide the fate of the troubled Dutchman.

According to The Athletic, senior figures, such as Ratcliffe and Sir Dave Brailsford, the sporting director of Ineos, will conduct a post-mortem on the club’s worst league season in over 30 years before determining whether a management change is necessary.

The report goes on to verify that contact has already been made with the representatives of other coaches, including Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna, despite the club’s claim that no decision has been made regarding Ten Hag’s future.

Mauricio Pochettino, who is single after leaving Chelsea last week, Thomas Frank, the manager of Brentford, and Thomas Tuchel are among the other names that have been connected to Manchester United in recent weeks.

When a reporter questioned Ratcliffe about whether Ten Hag would remain in his position, the United part-owner chose not to answer, adding to the rumors that a decision had already been made about the manager’s future.

Ten Hag was also questioned extensively about the rumors that have been bothering him lately. Gary Lineker questioned him almost immediately following United’s thrilling 2-1 victory over Manchester City about whether or not he had overseen his last game in charge.

He retorted, “I’m not sure.” My only activity is getting my team ready and growing it. This project belongs to me. I can say that it was a mess when I arrived. We are better now. Not where we want to be, though.
