Transfer targets Manchester United and Arsenal This season, Lautaro Martinez has been one of Inter Milan’s best forwards and believes he is currently among the best in the world.
Lautaro Martinez, a striker for Inter Milan, thinks he is on the same level as Robert Lewandowski, Harry Kane, Erling Haaland, and Kylian Mbappe.
Over the years, Martinez has been strongly linked to a move to the Premier League; clubs like Manchester United and Arsenal are currently mentioned in connection with the 26-year-old. With 24 goals in the previous season, he led Serie A in scoring and was named the most valuable player in the league.
But because of the protracted negotiations and the fact that his current contract is set to expire in 2026, there have been rumors that he may leave Inter this summer. Furthermore, given that several teams, including United and Arsenal, are trying to sign a top goalscorer, he will undoubtedly be in demand.
And Martinez was questioned about whether he thinks he is among the best forwards in the world, along with Mbappe, Haaland, Kane, and Lewandowski, in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport. “I have nothing to be jealous of them, the numbers and the trophies say so,” he responded.
“Compared to me, some of them have won less. As my father taught me, I must continue to work responsibly, but I can compete on an equal footing with all of these outstanding players.”
According to reports from Italy, Inter and Martinez are still at odds over salary; the player is reportedly demanding €14 million (£11.9 million) annually, while the club has only offered him €8 million (£6.8 million).
Additionally, Alejandro Camano, Martinez’s agent, said to TV Play when questioned about the player’s wage demands: “I don’t think the fans need to know the figures.” Of course, I only talk about that with Inter. There has been discussion regarding 12 or 14 million, but once again, these are matters between Lautaro and the team.
