Man United claims to have completed a deal, allowing them to sign a second wing-back.

The ultra-reliable David Ornstein has provided his insight on the deal, which is expected to cost €40 million or £33.5 million. A shocking report has claimed that Manchester United have “already snapped up” a second wing-back signing to follow Patrick Dorgu.

With the arrival of Patrick Dorgu, Manchester United is well positioned to make the first major signing of the Ruben Amorim era. A deal with Lecce that is worth €30 million plus €5 million in add-ons has been finalised, and the personal terms of the 20-year-old player have also been agreed upon.

The move, which will either be officially announced later that day or on Sunday, will be finalised by Dorgu, according to Fabrizio Romano, who will travel to Manchester on Saturday to complete the transaction.

Within Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation, it is anticipated that Dorgu will play the position of left wing-back. On the other hand, a bombshell report from the Portuguese news outlet A Bola claims that a right wing-back has been lined up for the summer, which is six months from now.

The report made a number of strong claims, which, taken as a whole, suggested that Manchester United will sign Geovany Quenda from Sporting CP in the month of June.

In the headline of the report, it was stated that “Manchester United have already grabbed Quenda for the summer.”

A Bola quickly elaborated on this point in the copy, saying, “Manchester United have already acquired Geovany Quenda.” This was a quick confirmation of the previous statement.

Not during this winter transfer window, but rather during the summer transfer window, which is a transfer that, according to A Bola, is guaranteed, with the winger, who is 17 years old, joining the Red Devils beginning in 2025/2026.

Amorim is familiar with Quenda as a result of their time spent playing for Sporting, and Quenda is widely considered to be one of the most prominent talents that Portugal has produced in recent years.

However, it was at right wing-back that he was most frequently featured during the early stages of the 2024/25 season before Amorim left for Old Trafford. The left-footer is capable of playing in almost any position up and down the right flank.

It was reported by A Bola that Quenda’s transfer to Manchester United is almost certainly finalised. One of the contributors to The Athletic, David Ornstein, offered his perspective on the matter not long after the publication of their report.

It was confirmed by Ornstein that Manchester United are “exploring” the possibility of making a move for Quenda during the summer, but he refrained from making the same kinds of claims that A Bola did.

In spite of this, Ornstein included new information in his evaluation, which revealed that Quenda is likely to cost about €40 million or £33.5 million if he does move to Manchester United.

The reporter wrote that Manchester United are reportedly in the process of negotiating a deal to acquire the services of Sporting CP’s winger Geovany Quenda during the summer.

United are considering making a move for the Portugal youth international, who will turn 18 in April and is expected to cost approximately €40 million. Although United have not made a formal offer, they are looking into purchasing the player.

If Quenda were to switch teams, he would be reunited with Ruben Amorim, the head coach of Manchester United. The two had previously collaborated on projects before Amorim moved from Sporting to Old Trafford in November.

“However, for the time being, United is putting their focus on operations in the winter market in preparation for the transfer deadline on Monday. There will be an increase in the amount of work done on the subsequent window.

Quenda would most likely be used at right wing-back if he were to be reunited with Amorim in England, according to the analysis of the player that was included in the article published by The Athletic.

Patrick Dorgu’s signing was a casualty for Manchester United, and Xavi Simons’ bombshell was a total surprise.
Other news includes the fact that it appears that Tyrell Malacia will be leaving as a result of Dorgu’s imminent arrival.

Benfica are reportedly in discussions regarding a possible transfer for the Dutchman, who has been given permission to leave the club through the loan route.

Additionally, Manchester United has been identified as one of three Premier League giants that are “ready to attack” a deal for Xavi Simons within the upcoming summer.

On January 30, Simons’ loan stint at RB Leipzig from Paris Saint-Germain was converted into a permanent one. It cost Leipzig €50 million, in addition to €31 million in add-ons.

However, according to Fabrizio Romano, Leipzig is willing to make a quick sale in the summer, and BILD reports that Manchester United, Manchester City, and Liverpool are already in the running for the player.
