Liam Millar Makes His Feelings Clear as Birmingham City Face Key Decision on His Future

Liam Millar has stated that his primary goal is to ensure that Birmingham City achieves the best possible outcomes in the face of a permanent relocation to St. Andrew’s.

At the close of the summer transfer window, the 27-year-old joined the Blues on loan from newly promoted Hull City.

The winger has started the previous seven league games for Chris Davies’ team, scoring four goals and providing three assists.

This has sparked speculation among fans that the team should attempt to sign the Canadian on a permanent basis from Tigers.

The Midlands club is aiming for promotion this season and is presently ranked fourth in the Championship.

Millar’s contract with Hull is coming to an end, but the Premier League club has the option to extend it for another year.

Millar has stated that his current emphasis is on helping Birmingham win games, and that he is not thinking about his future at all.

The forward has lauded his experience with the Championship club thus far, implying that he is pleased with his move to St. Andrew’s but is not considering a permanent contract just yet.

“I’m really enjoying it,” Millar told Birmingham Live.

“I’ve had a terrific time here, and my family really enjoys it.

“But, to be honest, my complete emphasis is on helping Blues get to the Premier League, and we’ll worry about what happens after that.

“I’m extremely happy.

“I’m doing great, and I want to keep it continuing.

“I want to do everything I can to help Blues get to where we all want to be and I’m going to keep fighting every day for that.”

Millar made his Birmingham debut in a 2-2 draw against Wolves on September 6, and he has started every league game since, establishing himself as a valuable member of the club.

He contributed an assist in a 2-1 loss to Norwich City and two more in a 2-1 victory over Derby County.

Prior to the international break, the 27-year-old scored his first goal for the club in a 2-2 draw against Middlesbrough, and he also scored in recent victories over Preston North End and QPR.

However, it remains to be seen whether an agreement can be reached to keep Millar St. Andrew’s beyond his present loan period.

Birmingham’s Recent Form

Davies’ status was under threat in the early stages of the season, as Birmingham had an uneven run of results.

However, the Blues have hit the ground running since returning from the international break, winning all three of their games, scoring seven and allowing zero.

This has propelled the Midlands club to fourth in the Championship table, only three points behind leaders Swansea City.

Birmingham’s next game is against Cardiff City on October 24 at 3 p.m.

Liam Millar’s permanent agreement must be on Birmingham’s agenda.

Millar’s loan stay is still in its early stages, but he’s already proving to be an excellent addition to Davies’ squad.

Their improved form following the break has coincided with him finding his scoring boots, and if he can maintain this level of performance, he will certainly outperform his most productive Championship campaign.

With his contract position at Hull uncertain, Birmingham should be thinking about how to approach the prospect of a permanent move.

The 27-year-old is clearly pleased with his move to the club, and continuing together beyond the current season appears to be the best decision for all parties thus far.
