Following their Anfield stalemate, Manchester City and Liverpool are separated by just one point, with Arsenal leading the Premier League table. Jamie Carragher has now shared his thoughts on the potential destination of the title.

Jamie Carragher believes the Premier League title race will go the distance after Liverpool and Manchester City were unable to separate at Anfield.

On Sunday, the Reds fought back to draw 1-1 with Pep Guardiola’s side, with strikes from John Stones and Alexis MacAllister.

The draw keeps Arsenal at the top of the table, level on points with Liverpool, while City is only one point behind. Carragher believes that the narrow margins between the three teams could force the title race to the final day.

Following the game, the former Liverpool star told Sky Sports: “What a game. The Premier League is fantastic. Both teams should be proud of how they performed; obviously, I wanted Liverpool to win in the end, but what these two managers have given us over the last seven or eight years has been exceptional.

“It looks like it’s going to go to the wire alongside Arsenal now!”

While Carragher expects the title race to be exciting, he believes City are still the team to beat. He went on to say, “If you’re Arsenal and you watched today, you’re probably thinking that a draw is the best possible outcome for you.

“Then, if you’re Liverpool and you’re watching Arsenal play Manchester City in a few weeks, you’ll be thinking the same thing, so I believe they’re still chasing City. They are still the team to beat.

“They have to find the points to beat them, but City’s next four or five games are tough – even though Arsenal are ahead, I think Liverpool would prefer to see them win over City because I believe City’s last five or six games of the season will be ones in which they get maximum points.”

“If they don’t drop points in the next few weeks, I think they’ll be really tough to stop.”
