After Arsenal’s victory in the Carabao Cup, Newcastle star Anthony Gordon made fun of the player by saying, “I made it a sober night for him.”
After Newcastle’s victory in the Carabao Cup, supporters were convinced that Anthony Gordon made fun of Arsenal.
In the aftermath of Newcastle’s Carabao Cup semi-final victory over Mikel Arteta’s team this evening, Anthony Gordon seemed to make a veiled reference to Arsenal.
After Alexander Isak had shot against the post in the 19th minute at St. James’ Park, Jacob Murphy beat David Raya on the rebound to give the Gunners a chance to win the match. The Gunners were already trailing 2-0 from the first leg of the match.
The visitors, who had just returned from a resounding victory over Manchester City in the Premier League by a score of 5-1, produced very little in the way of a response. Gordon’s goal, which came from a poor pass from Raya, put an end to the match shortly after the second half began.
As a result of a worrying hamstring injury sustained by Gabriel Martinelli, Arsenal’s problems in the north-eastern region have only gotten worse. Arteta’s team will be looking to get back on track away at Leicester after participating in a warm-weather training camp in Dubai.
The Toon, on the other hand, will undoubtedly be keeping a close eye on the situation tomorrow evening in order to find out who they will be competing against at Wembley Stadium on March 16. With the second leg of the match scheduled to take place at Anfield, Tottenham has a 1-0 lead over Liverpool.
“I could not believe it. In a statement to Sky Sports shortly after the final whistle, Gordon, the player who scored the goals for Newcastle, said, “A proper team performance and we got the win.”
There is never any doubt about our supporters; they make things extremely challenging for the rival team, and we have done everything in the right way.
Gordon’s subsequent statement caused a number of Newcastle supporters to go into a state of hysteria. Many of these supporters were convinced that the winger had taken inspiration from Erling Haaland’s infamous “stay humble” attack on Arteta in order to make fun of the Gunners.
“We had a strategy that we believed would give us success. “Everyone is aware that we press,” he continued.
“It is essential for us to maintain our modesty at this time.”
“Even though it is so far away, it will be a very significant event.”
Not long after that, the official account for Newcastle on X, which was formerly known as Twitter, added more salt to the wound by posting a picture of the matchball with the caption “the culprit.”
After Arteta made the suggestion that the type of ball that was used in this year’s Carabao Cup might have been partially responsible for Arsenal’s failures in their most recent match at the Emirates, this news comes as a result.
In the meantime, the manager of Newcastle had nothing but praise for the effort that his players put forth throughout the two legs. He told Sky Sports, “We wanted to get pressure on them [William Saliba and Gabriel], and in order to do that, we had to get bodies in the right areas and press high – that is how we decided to do it.”
