Hull City are Premier League club, and as the Tigers prepare to return to the top flight after nearly a decade away, owner Acun Ilicali will be seeking to finish some crucial business beforehand.
Against all expectations, Hull City have returned to the top flight in the most dramatic of circumstances.
The Tigers have done the unthinkable after being faced with a two-window transfer embargo at the start of the season, sacking Ruben Selles, who had just kept them up, choosing an unknown Bosnian coach as his replacement, and building their squad primarily through free transfers and loans.
Indeed, Hull was only ahead of Sheffield Wednesday in Opta’s anticipated points table, but they have defied all odds to get promoted thanks to their clinical touch in front of goal at one end, great shot-stopping at the other, and, no doubt, a little luck.
Scottish striker Oli McBurnie has been instrumental in those efforts, and the club is doing all possible to keep him at the MKM Stadium next season.
Hull City are prepared to offer play-off hero Oli McBurnie a new contract.

When McBurnie, 29, joined Hull on a free transfer at the start of the season, the Tigers considered it as a major coup, beating off competition from Sheffield United, Ipswich Town, and Swansea City for his services.
He has proven to be a tremendous coup, with the Scottish striker scoring 17 goals and providing eight assists in 37 league games this season, helping Hull finish sixth on the final day.
Hull advanced to Wembley Stadium, where they will face Middlesbrough, after defeating Millwall 2-1 in the play-off semi-finals, thanks to goals from Mohamed Belloumi and Joe Gelhardt.
In the 94th minute, Sol Brynn spilt Yu Hirakawa’s cross from the left, which went into the path of McBurnie, who scored from close range to send the Tigers back to the promised land.
If he hadn’t already achieved cult hero status on Humberside, he has now, and as the club prepares to confront top-flight football once more, they are trying to offer McBurnie new terms to continue with the club, according to Alan Nixon’s Patreon.
According to Nixon, the Scot was recently linked with a £15 million move to Spanish club Real Betis, but the Hull hierarchy does not want to lose McBurnie and is putting together a fresh and improved offer to keep his services.
McBurnie’s current contract does not expire until the summer of 2028, with Hull already having the option to extend it by a year if they so wish.
However, they appear to be aiming to reward their promotion hero with a significant pay increase in order to keep him around and rule out any interest from outside.
The Scot will not be heading to the World Cup with Scotland, as Steve Clarke has chosen Lyndon Dykes, Ross Stewart, George Hirst, Lawrence Shankland, and Che Adams ahead of him.
While it is a significant setback for McBurnie, it could assist Hull by keeping him out of the spotlight and, perhaps, keeping him fit ahead of next season, when they will desperately need him.
After Hull City’s promotion to the Premier League, Sergej Jakirovic will continue to rely on Oli McBurnie.

With Hull’s Premier League status guaranteed, the Tigers have a busy summer ahead of them.
Their elevation was spectacular, but there can be no denying the degree of luck that helped them along the way, and most Hull fans would be well aware that changes must be made across the board if they are to have any hope of survival.
McBurnie’s spot in the team is not secured at this point, but he should still play an important part under Jakirovic next season.
With a new contract on the way, McBurnie is entering his peak, and Jakirovic should rely on the Scot to increase Hull’s survival chances next year, even if competition emerges in his place.
