Following the 1-1 draw between Manchester City and Liverpool at Anfield, Virgil van Dijk praised Pep Guardiola’s team for their skill and tenacity.
All square, the big game ended, and in all honesty, it was probably a fair outcome.
Each team had its chances during the match, and the second half may have seen a winner for both. At the end of City’s match, Jeremy Doku nearly scored by hitting the crossbar, and the Reds also had several good chances, but Stefan Ortega performed admirably after taking Ederson’s place.
That was undoubtedly another outstanding match between two outstanding teams.

Manchester City vs. Liverpool games are always fantastic to watch.
Over the years, the two teams led by Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp have frequently entertained fans, and their matches will be remembered with great affection.
“Manchester City has been very successful with the titles they have won, and every game we have played against each other has been very intense,” van Dijk said after the game (Sky Sports). They have talent all over the field and every game is so tough, which is why they won the Triple Crown the previous year. I acknowledge that, but winning the game was our goal today.
“Making a point and moving on to the next task is not a bad situation. We only need to savor the journey.
Bravo to van Dijk
Van Dijk has a great deal of respect for Manchester City, and his remarks following the match are commendable.
Some of City’s players are probably going to say the same things about this Liverpool team as they did about the squad that Klopp had for the previous few seasons.
They have been a major force in City’s success over the years, and playing them is never easy, especially at Anfield. It could be argued that the difficulty they have presented has helped City become as unrelenting as they have been.
The news that Klopp will be leaving City at the end of the season is definitely good news for them. It will be interesting to watch who replaces the German and whether or not he can raise the team’s level of play.
