A ‘formal offer’ for Mason Greenwood has been made by one of Europe’s top teams, which would significantly increase Manchester United’s financial position.
During his successful loan stint with Getafe, where he scored 10 goals in 36 games, Greenwood spent the previous season away from Old Trafford.
Several clubs throughout Europe were alerted by his performances in Spain’s La Liga.
In the end, Marseille and Man United reached an agreement last summer, paying £26.6 million for his talents.
Greenwood has scored 15 goals for Marseille across all competitions, including 14 in Ligue 1.
With Paris Saint-Germain ‘keeping a close eye’ on the English forward, he’s getting a lot of attention after his performances in France’s top division.
According to the Spanish publication Fichajes, PSG wants to make Greenwood a “statement signing” for the 2025–2026 campaign.
A ‘formal offer’ of £62.4 million has apparently been made by the French powerhouses for the 23-year-old.
Since Man United included a sell-on provision when allowing Greenwood to transfer to Marseille, they stand to get a “lucrative” cash infusion should he decide to change his allegiance to France.
Man United executives were fully aware of the player’s potential, so they imposed a sell-on clause at 40–50%.
The Red Devils will collect £25 million from the transfer if the sell-on clause is 40%.
However, if the sell-on clause is set at 50%, Man United may receive up to £31.2 million.
Man United, who are trying to add players before a roster makeover this summer, would greatly benefit from the cash infusion.
In order to reduce the wage cost, the team intends to let go of a number of players, and an additional £25–£31 million from Greenwood would be perfect before the club’s summer transfer activity.
