Cyle Larin is expected to be available for Southampton’s trip to West Ham next weekend, despite being forced off in the goalless draw with Bolton.
The striker was replaced after 41 minutes due to a collision with goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu, but head coach Tonda Eckert believes the situation is not serious.
“His back is fine,” Eckert explained.
“I believe he collided early on and tried to continue, but I asked for a sub at one point.
“We’ll see how serious it is, but I’m hopeful he’ll be in for next week.”
Flynn Downes is a bigger doubt for his return to his former club after sustaining ankle ligament damage in the 1-0 victory over Norwich City.
The midfielder missed the match with Bolton, but Eckert has not ruled him out completely for next weekend’s game.
“It’s one of the three outside ligaments,” Eckert explained.
“He’s completed a few of tasks that startled the medical team.
“With the game approaching, he’s trying to push. It’ll be about how he handles pain. He’ll push for West Ham and see how we do this week.
“That is what we are pushing for. It’s ambitious, but it’s doable.”
