Marcus Rashford has come clean about his contemplation of quitting Manchester United prior to Erik ten Hag becoming manager.
In Ten Hag’s first season as manager, Rashford scored 30 goals, which is a career high. He recently signed a new five-year contract. It was a different story last summer when Rashford was at the bottom of his form and confidence following an injury-plagued season in which he scored just five goals.
At his lowest point, 25-year-old Rashford acknowledged that it was a real possibility that he may leave his boyhood club, and he said that his representatives had spoken with Paris Saint-Germain about this. The arrival of Ten Hag, though, was the deciding factor; Rashford had his finest season at Old Trafford thanks to the Dutchman’s man-management.

“Before the manager came, maybe a little bit, but it’s football, it happens,” Rashford said when asked if he had ever considered leaving United. It worked out that he showed up at the club just when I needed him to. There’s a purpose to everything.
Now things are changing a bit because, in my opinion, it’s obvious that the manager is, and always has been, quite ambitious. That was something I was absolutely certain of.
My appetite for improvement knows no bounds, and I want nothing more than to see the team continue to grow as a unit, acclimate to one another, and surpass our performance from last year. That is, in the end, our sole hope for resuming our trophy winning ways.
