Burnley receive major €24m transfer offer from UEFA Champions League club.

Burnley have a busy summer ahead of them as they prepare to return to the Championship, where promotion is the goal.

Even though the Clarets are among the favourites to win promotion, there is still a lot of uncertainty surrounding the team because they do not yet have a head coach.

When Scott Parker’s departure was disclosed at the end of April, many expected a new manager to take over immediately after the season ended, yet Burnley is still without a head coach.

RB Leipzig makes €24 million bid for Burnley’s Maxime Esteve.

So, Burnley’s immediate priority will be to find Parker’s successor, followed by rebuilding the squad during what is expected to be a frantic window.

Burnley, like other demoted clubs, understands that sales are necessary to balance the books, with Maxime Esteve being one of the most valuable assets at Turf Moor.

Burnley has also received an offer for the centre-back, with writer Sacha Tavolieri confirming that RB Leipzig has made an offer of up to €24 million for the left-footed player.

He explained that the overall package might reach that amount, however some of it is made up of extras, and it is unclear how much of the cost will be guaranteed to the Championship side.

It is also stated that personal terms are unlikely to be an issue provided the two clubs can agree on a cost.

Esteve has been an important player for Burnley since his transfer from Montpellier, shining as the club achieved promotion from this level in 2024/25.

Burnley must maintain Maxime Esteve’s worth after receiving an offer. The club’s recent relegation without much fight makes it difficult to give players too much credit.

Nonetheless, Esteve was a solid performer, just as he was when he debuted in England’s top division from France.

The 24-year-old was a cut above the rest during his year in the Championship, and he was a significant contributor to Burnley’s ridiculously strong defensive record.

As a result, it’s no wonder that he’s garnering attention, and his age, profile, and ability indicate that he may make the step up to a team like Leipzig, which will compete in the Champions League next season after placing third in the Bundesliga last season.

Obviously, the opportunity to prove himself at that level will appeal to Esteve, so you should anticipate this transaction to go through if the money is appropriate.

On that front, an overall package of €24 million feels low, even though we don’t know the full details of what Burnley will receive and how the add-ons would be structured.

However, in today’s market, you would expect the Clarets to seek a higher price for Esteve, and it would be understandable if they sought at least €30 million upfront.

Whether that is realistic for a Championship team remains to be seen, and in an ideal scenario for Burnley, further interest will surface, resulting in a bidding war.

Finally, a summer move appears imminent for Esteve, and while this would be a setback to Burnley, the fee he brings in should kickstart the summer business at Turf Moor.
