At the end of the current campaign, Silva will leave Chelsea; however, he has not yet committed to signing with a new team.
The Chelsea defender’s wife has angrily denied rumors that he has decided to sign with another team.
After spending four years at Stamford Bridge and winning three trophies, including the Champions League in 2021, the Brazil international will depart the team next month.
Silva broke the news on the club’s social media pages with an emotional statement.
The 39-year-old continued by saying that his sons, who are currently players for the Blues’ youth teams, will continue to be connected to the team.
He continued: “I hope they can continue their careers here at this victorious club that many players wish to be part of.”
The former PSG and AC Milan player has been linked to several teams since making his announcement, including three Premier League teams.
Three “London-based clubs” allegedly made offers to Silva, according to TNT Sports Brazil; however, their identities have not been made public.
The defender reportedly turned down offers from the Saudi Pro League in favor of a two-year contract to rejoin his former team, Fluminense, according to Brazilian publication Globo.
However, Isabelle da Silva, Silva’s wife, has refuted on Instagram that her husband has consented to join any club just yet.
She wrote, using talkSPORT to translate: “Help me assist you! You’re completely ignorant!
“Perhaps something good could come out of this anxiety! You’re obstructing my path! Put an end to posting misleading information!”
The defender may have to watch from the sidelines as he tries to assist Mauricio Pochettino’s team in securing a return to European football for the upcoming campaign before he departs Stamford Bridge.
With four games remaining, including a match against their rivals, they are five points behind sixth-place Newcastle. They can still finish as high as sixth, which would guarantee them a spot in the Europa League for the following season.
The Blues’ 2-0 victory over Tottenham on Thursday aided in their quest.
However, Silva’s groin injury sustained in the 2-2 draw with Aston Villa forced him to miss that match. According to the London Evening Standard, there are worries that he might have participated in his final game for the Blues.
