Arsenal is still in the running to win the Premier League and the Champions League, but behind-the-scenes summer transfer negotiations are already underway.

Arsenal is leading the pack in the final stretch of the Premier League as the match gets closer.

Mikel Arteta’s team is currently ahead of both Manchester City and Liverpool heading into the most recent round of fixtures, after coming up painfully short the previous year. However, before the Gunners can celebrate their first league title victory since 2004, there is still a lot of work to be done.

Arsenal will be looking to continue where they left off against Brighton last weekend when they welcome Aston Villa – and former manager Unai Emery – to the Emirates, following a thrilling 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich in the Champions League midweek.

Ahead of another crucial weekend in the title race, Mirror Football compiles all the most recent information from north London, where both Liverpool and City are competing and trying to catch up to the Gunners.

Arteta turns his back on midfield star

Charlie Patino is reportedly planning a permanent departure from the Emirates during the summer transfer window, and Arsenal appears ready to cash in on the Hale End star.

After rising through the ranks of Arsenal’s academy, the highly regarded 20-year-old midfielder was predicted to be the next big thing, but he has spent the last two seasons on loan.

Patino’s desire to move on permanently has now been made clear, and Arteta is willing to use the Gunners’ homegrown star as additional funding for his own summer transfer window.

A timely boost for Timber appears

After suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury, Mikel Arteta has confirmed that summer signing Jurrien Timber is getting closer to playing again.

Prior to the 2023–24 season, the 22-year-old Dutch defender signed a £40 million contract with the Gunners from Ajax. However, he suffered a serious injury in Arsenal’s opening Premier League game of the year.

Though Arteta emphasized that the defender still had “a few steps” to go, Timber is now anticipated to play during the final stretch, dispelling earlier worries that his season was finished.

Prior to Euro 2024, Cole Palmer may unseat Bukayo Saka from the England team, according to former Arsenal favorite Alan Smith.

Saka was one of England’s standout players at the 2022 World Cup and has developed over the last two years into a vital member of the team for both club and nation.

However, Smith thinks that Palmer’s brilliant play for Chelsea has given Gareth Southgate a lot to think about before the summer, and Saka might lose out if the England manager chooses to include Palmer in his squad.
