BREAKING NEWS: “At Atlanta, I helped him achieve most of his goals.” Erling Haaland and I are capable of forming connections, and he invited me to Stamford Bridge. The Newscastle star makes a suggestion that he wants to join the countryman at Chelsea again this summer, saying, “I can’t play for Newscastle again.”
Cole Palmer’s return to training has been a huge boost for Chelsea.
Palmer has returned to the team for training ahead of Tuesday’s friendly match against Belgium, having missed England’s 1-0 loss to Brazil at Wembley on Saturday night. Mauricio Pochettino will be comforted by this, as Chelsea will take on Burnley on Saturday when Premier League play returns following the international break.
Due to a minor injury, Palmer was unable to play against Brazil; however, he may now play against Belgium and receive his third cap for England. The former Manchester City player has made 37 appearances for Chelsea this season and is in incredible form. Palmer has put up 12 assists and scored 16 goals during that time.
After returning to training, Jordan Henderson also seems to be in the running for England’s match against Belgium. However, Kyle Walker and Harry Maguire have withdrawn after making their debuts against Brazil on Saturday. Due to injuries to the two and backup goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, Rico Lewis and James Trafford have been called up from the Under-21 team.
Before the Euros, captain Harry Kane and star player for Arsenal, Bukayo Saka, had already pulled out of an absentee-hit final camp. According to Gareth Southgate, he is excited to watch the new players for the Three Lions play.
The England manager stated, “Belgium have probably played a different 11 or close to, so they’re going to be a bit fresher,” following the Red Devils’ 0-0 draw against the Republic of Ireland on Saturday. However, much like in Brazil, we’re talking about a top-tier game, an incredible experience for the players, a chance to reunite with old friends, and a build-up to the summer.
“I’m not unhappy with the caliber of work. I am aware that there will always be a bad reaction to losing when you lose the game. But considering all the adjustments we’d made, I assumed that the audience was already rooting for the team with fifteen minutes remaining.
“I’m not down on the team’s performance at all because they could see a lot of young players going in and doing well, as well as a lot of very inexperienced players going in and doing well.”
When asked if it must hurt that England lost their winning streak before the Euros in a separate interview with BBC Radio 5 Live, Southgate responded, “Well, it does because we had an unbeaten year.” However, we intentionally selected two very difficult games, and naturally, we had to field a very different squad than we had originally planned.
Therefore, we have still learned a great deal of really important information ahead of the summer. As you may have noticed, a few of these boys are fighting for spots on the squad and starting positions. To determine whether they can succeed in the summer, you need to see them against that caliber of competition.
