Enzo Maresca already knows first five transfer priorities at Chelsea once Leicester move is completed

After Mauricio Pochettino leaves Chelsea, Enzo Maresca is expected to join from Leicester City, and it’s already known where he wants to add strength to the team.

Since it was announced last week that Pochettino would be leaving by “mutual consent,” the Italian manager is favored to succeed Todd Boehly as manager.

After a challenging season, Chelsea bounced back nicely, finishing a very respectable sixth, especially considering they fought for a top half spot for most of the season.

Following his unexpected departure, Pochettino sent a statement to Chelsea supporters.

“Thank you to the Chelsea ownership group and Sporting Directors for the opportunity to be part of this football club’s history,” he wrote in the letter.

“The Club is now well positioned to keep moving forward in the Premier League and Europe in the years to come.”

Conversely, Maresca had a fantastic season as well, leading Leicester back to the Premier League at the first attempt.

But the Championship table-toppers could face a historically high points deduction, which is probably one of the reasons Maresca is moving to Stamford Bridge.

The sheer number of players Todd Boehly is bringing in has been a major point of criticism for his tenure at Chelsea, and with Maresca’s expected appointment, that doesn’t seem likely to change this summer.

Despite Chelsea’s sizable roster, Fabrizio Romano claims that Maresca will be eager to bolster five crucial positions within the team.

“Believe me, Chelsea has a busy summer ahead of them. This time, they won’t do anything entirely insane; instead, they will act wisely. The Italian journalist asserted, “A goalkeeper, defenders—at least one CB could be two, busy with the striker position, could also be a winger!”

Maresca is another manager from Pep Guardiola’s management school; after Mikel Arteta took a managerial position, the Italian managed the City manager’s squad for the 2022–2023 season.

Chelsea supporters will be hoping that Maresca can follow Arteta’s lead, who, despite the team’s lack of success in recent years, has undoubtedly elevated the atmosphere at the Emirates.
