Is Guardiola getting ready for his final season?
After Manchester United’s victory in the FA Cup final, the Cityzens held a somewhat subdued trophy parade through Manchester’s streets. They had *just* the Premier League to celebrate this time around after a treble-winning season, something they have become used to in recent years as this is their fourth straight title win.
However, all of that may soon change as it has been suggested that Pep Guardiola’s tenure at the Etihad could be coming to an end this season. His current contract is set to expire in 2025, and there is a lot of talk that he will decide to step down at that time. It is also possible that the verdict on the 115 Premier League charges will be rendered at that same time, which could mean a very big summer for the team.
Although City would prefer to keep Guardiola at the team, The Daily Mail reports that as the team prepares for life without the Spaniard, “multiple sources within the industry and City have openly discussed the prospect of an impending departure over recent months.”
This implies that the 2024–2025 season may be his final one. There is still a lot of conjecture regarding how his team may be assembled for that season; players like Eduardo Silva, Kevin de Bruyne, and Bernardo Silva have all been linked to leaving the team, and Sergio Gomez and Kalvin Phillips may depart in quest of more playing time.
Because of this, there will probably be a lot of new players this summer, and Guardiola might have been given the chance to bolster his roster with a player he really admires.
