Chelsea has initiated their recent roster purge, with Renato Veiga transferring to Juventus on loan and Aston Villa nearing an agreement for Axel Disasi.

Veiga, who transferred to Chelsea from Basel last summer, will complete the current season in Italy after Juventus consented to pay a loan fee of over £4 million and fully cover his salary. Juventus lacks the ability to finalise the transfer permanently.

Aston Villa is negotiating with Chelsea on the conditions of a loan transfer for Disasi, with the loan fee and salary compensation still being deliberated.

France international Disasi has already indicated a preference for joining Villa ahead of interest from clubs in Italy and other Premier League sides including Wolves, with his own personal terms now a formality.

Disasi, a £38.5 million acquisition from Monaco in 2023, has been a peripheral participant at Stamford Bridge under Enzo Maresca, commencing only four Premier League matches this season. Aston Villa urgently requires defence reinforcements following Tyrone Mings’ injury during Sunday’s draw with West Ham, only days after Diego Carlos was transferred to Fenerbahce.

Villa has been exploring the market for central defensive possibilities, and Juan Foyth is another target, as Unai Emery previously managed him at Villarreal, the Argentinian’s current club.

Foyth’s fellow countryman Emi Buendia is departing Villa on loan to Bayer Leverkusen for the remainder of the season, with a £17m purchase option included in the agreement. Louie Barry was scheduled for a medical examination with Hull after they reached an agreement to acquire him on loan from Villa for the remainder of the season.

“We are willing to enhance the squad until the final moment and are also receptive to any departures,” Emery stated when enquired about prospective transfers last week. Diego Carlos departed last week, necessitating his replacement. We are collaborating with the sporting director and the club to identify suitable replacements for Diego Carlos.

Aston Villa has enhanced their roster by acquiring attacker Donyell Malen from Borussia Dortmund and right-back Andres Garcia from Levante, with Emery expressing confidence in Garcia’s promising future at the club.

“He is a right full-back, a promising young player,” Emery stated. “He was advancing rapidly, and I was previously acquainted with him.” I am aware of his conduct as an individual. We opted to sign him as we perceived it to be an opportune moment—a truly advantageous opportunity. He is advancing rapidly in his career.
