Gabriel Jesus is working hard to recover from a knee injury that will keep him out of action for the rest of Arsenal’s season. After sustaining a blow to his anterior cruciate ligament, he required surgery and is currently recovering.
Due to his extended absence and Bukayo Saka’s suspension until at least March, Mikel Arteta has few attacking options. Arsenal decided not to purchase a new forward during the January transfer window in spite of this.
With the exception of an attempt to get the gifted midfielder Sverre Nypan from Norway, Ollie Watkins was the only player they made a serious effort to sign during this time. Last week, a bid of £40 million was put out for him, but it was swiftly rejected.
Watkins would have served as Jesus’ immediate stand-in and cover, as he will now not return until at least the beginning of the following season. After learning of Aston Villa’s plan to transfer Jhon Duran to Al Nassr, Arsenal, eager to test their resolve over Watkins at 29, never submitted a second bid.
In an effort to find long-term front-line reinforcement, Arsenal will now target several strikers in the summer. When Jesus returns, there will be more competition for his spot because he can also play off the right flank.
Arteta will also have options thanks to Ethan Nwaneri, who was utilized as an additional winger in the weeks prior to his own injury setback. Jesus will be concentrating on getting through yet another period out.
The last 18 months have been a difficult time for him. The Brazilian is nevertheless cheerful despite his difficulties. He gave an update on his recuperation on the internet on Wednesday morning before his colleagues’ away second-leg in the Carabao Cup semi-final match against Newcastle United.
Jesus posted a mask over his face to his Instagram story from what looks to be a pressure chamber. The forward is resting with his head resting on a pillow as part of his recuperation.
Inhaling pure oxygen is the idea underlying Jesus’ chamber. With a high oxygen content, this can hasten recovery by lowering inflammation and encouraging tissue regeneration.
